Dunno how many have followed this story, but University of Colorado biologists were getting emails and packages that some considered to be threatening. The Panda's Thumb now has three posts on the story:The last has a comment which includes a link to a story in Wired which says that a suspect in the case is on the run.

Now sure, the guy quoted Pastor Jerry Gibson, "Every true Christian should be ready and willing to take up arms to kill the enemies of Christian society," but he also wrote that he would be doing so with his pen. I think it might be a bit of an over-reaction to call this schmuck a terrorist.

That was my thinking. His exact words were:
[Pastor Jerry Gibson]said that every true Christian should be ready and willing to take up arms to kill the enemies of Christian society.

But I believe it is far more effective to take up a pen to kill the enemies of Truth.

Also, the extent of this guy's "threats" seemed to be nothing but snitching to University presidents and frivolous lawsuits:
you might laugh and mock at me, as you do to God who reigns above you. but we shall see who will be laughing after i speak with Chanchellor (sic) Peterson.

i also will be approaching the Governor of the State, as well as the State legislature, who pay your salary and authorize your position, as well as the Regents.

i will be speaking with my attorney as well, for i am planning to file legal charges against you, accusing you of child molestation.

Still, Korn did do things which could be taken as threats of violence, including drawing skulls and crossbones on the envelopes of the letters he delivered. His explanation?
"The skull and crossbones on the envelopes given to the EBIO (evolutionary biology) professors symbolize the human fossils about whose age they constantly lie to the public," Korn wrote.

Not exactly sure I buy that one.

I've been folllowing it and in my opinion, the guy's a terrorist. A crackpot terrorist perhaps, but a terrorist none the less. Not all of them are bombers -- some spread terror, as noted, with the pen.

I'm with Filthy on this. No, Korn's not a very big terrorist, yet. But his intention of spreading fear in academia seems clear, or he would not have used the skull-and-crossbones on envelopes, nor have quoted a call to "kill the enemies of Christian society". He seems to be trying to play this cautiously, so he can't be arrested, or if arrested, convicted. But I suspect it's only a matter of time until Korn goes all the way nuts and tries to kill someone.

If I were one of the profs being harassed by this nutjob, I would be concerned for the safety and peace of mind of my staff, my family, and myself. And that is clearly Korn's intention, by sending packages. This guy needs to be found and checked out carefully through good police work, and through psychiatric examination. In the meantime, police and the university should be providing some protection for those being harassed.

Another thought: A civil suit for libel and harassment might do even more to stop this guy. The university should pay the legal costs.

From what I've read, the university and even the people receiving the emails and packages seem particularly not interested in calling this guy a terrorist, or even in banning him from the campus.

Jeeze. That seems somewhat irresponsible to me.

My first time cruising this board in a couple of years, and find this. Over on the Ethical Atheist board a few months ago I made a post wondering when evolutionists will be treated like abortion doctors, and when labs would be bombed.

If it comes true I will give the authorities a chance to handle it, but my patience is notoriously short...

Life is great until the schrapnel hits.

How big a jump is it from ranting and writing out threats to cutting and stuffing pipe? Me, I'd take him very seriously.
