Well alot of you are already aware of the city Ave Maria,Fl http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ave_Maria,_Florida being brought into being by Tom Monaghan, founder of Domino's Pizza.

It seems that the place is getting closer to move in time, and although not my cup of tea, I really have to say the church is looking nice from an as aesthetic point of view.

It is just everytime I see this kinda of extravagence being spent on churches and the like with the idea behind it all being to help people, I have to think about how many other more positive ways that kinda cash could have been used.

short video of the place:http://cosmos.bcst.yahoo.com/up/player/popup/?rn=49750&cl=3823173&ch=49799&src=news

The church shown looks like the cast left by filling a proper Gothic cathedral with concrete and rubble, then breaking up and removing the cathedral itself.

It looks like a giant Pope's hat... which probably shouldn't be surprising.

(I smell a Moonscape News piece about Benedict having a radioactive accident and growing gigantic. "WHERE'S MY HAT?")

A cult within a cult, and FL gets another crop of fruits & nuts. But if history is any guide, this one will either self destruct or quietly evolve into yet another small community within the larger framework of the state's urban/suburban population, indistingushable from most others. Most likely it'll be the latter because they are not trying to found yet another religion. Well, not yet, anyway.

What is it about phallic symbols that so fascinate the faithful of all stripes? Steeples and minarets and obelisks, and now this....
