YO: Just THIS In...

German Orchestra Performs in Iran 1:17 PM ET

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) -- The woman musicians wore headscarves, but that didn't hinder them in playing Beethoven and Brahms in a rare performance by a Western classical orchestra in the capital of the Islamic Republic.

Orwellingly Yurz sez:

I think the men in this orchestra should have gotten together and worn headscarves, as well, while on stage. Beethoven and Brahms transcend archaic religio-tribe culture.

Any woman in the orchestra who believes, religiously, as the power elite in Iran, has a perfect right to wear a headscarve. But what about the females in the group who aren't? These women shouldn't be held accountable for any "dirty" thoughts that might come upon the minds of males in the audience because the womens' necks and ears can be seen in public. That "problem" is the property of the guys in the concert hall, not the gals.

Grow up and wise up, before there isn't a planet to live on in this neck of the universe!

OY!

I wonder if they would be allowed to play any of the works of Felix Mendelssohn? The requirement of head scarves for the female musicians seems to me to be a no-starter condition. What German orchestra was this, that caved in to that requirement?
