Some Arizona quacks are trying to make a business out of using reflectors to concentrate moonbeams for healing purposes. And if you're not nearby, they will soon be able to "infuse" crystals with moonbeams, and sell those to you.

Ain't science and technology great?

A few modest words from the Web site of these assholes:
INTRODUCTION
Illuminating the Endless Possibilities

Interstellar Light Applications is making science fiction into science fact with the first project of its kind in world history. Using one-of-a-kind specifically designed and engineered light tracking and capturing technology, ILA explores the benefits and uses of moonlight's unique qualities. ILA also facilitates research into the applications of the brightest stars' and celestial bodies' spectral properties. Only true visionaries see possibility when others see road blocks and with their state-of-the-art invention, ILA's creators and researchers are surpassing all technologies of today and are capitalizing on alternative spectrum light research for the future. Their work presents unlimited benefits for the medical, agricultural and industrial fields. With ILA you are illuminating endless possibilities.

Of course, they're getting good press, even having their outrageous quackery called "research" by KVOA in Tuscon:
Conventional wisdom says that whenever there's a full moon, strange things happen.

Here in southern Arizona, new research is looking at ways to use moonlight to heal illness and disease.

Whether it's hocus pocus or science, moonbeam healing has its believers.

CNN is happy to provide an international promotion platform, complete with a video and the text:
Can moonbeams heal?
New research looks at ways moonbeams might help heal the sick and prevent disease. Affiliate KVOA reports.

The "research" word, again. Really makes this bullshit look sciency.

Well I cant wait to find out what the fuck "alternative spectrum light research" is exactly. Sounds sciency!

"Suckers got no business having money, anyways! ~~ Canada Bill Jones

While it is true that many species have a lunar cycle, they virtually all trigger a breeding or a migration response. Some species of protozoa, anemones and sea worms are good examples.

Unfortunately, they have no money nor the prospects of getting any, so these wankers must victimize the one species that usually has some.

When they publish in the New England Journal of Medicine, they might be worth listening to. 'Til then. I'll go with Canada Bill's philosophy.

I'd agree with Canada Bill, except for the desperate, confused people who will doubtless forego their chemotherapy and other medical treatments for this nonsense. (Still remembering poor Coretta Scott King being dragged into a Mexican quack "clinic" by her dumb-ass daughter.)

Sad but true. However, if these assholes didn't get them, some other(s) would. It's the entire nature of suckerism to look for the short-cut/something-for-nothing route and that's what keeps the grifters in business. They don't give a rat's ass if the sucker dies of his/her foolishness because, after all, there'll be another born here in a minute, and the supply is endless. They're in the nature of a cash crop.

And do you think that the government will do anything about it? Not very likely because suckers also vote, as can be verified by the 2,000 election, and the polititions want to stay on the good side of them. If there's no pools of blood on the floor, what harm, they figger. And if the scumbags get a hint of an investigation pending, they will simply claim that their bullshit is for amusement or adornment. I find myself reminded that the Q-Ray scam is still going strong despite many complaints.

Nah, Canada Bill was right; keep the suckers broke and they'll likely stay out of trouble.

Are these not sun beams?

What a man believes upon grossly insufficient evidence is an index into his desires -- desires of which he himself is often unconscious. If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it. If, on the other hand, he is offered something which affords a reason for acting in accordance to his instincts, he will accept it even on the slightest evidence. The origin of myths is explained in this way. - Bertrand Russell

No, satire beams.

No, nor any other appliance from them, either.

Seriously, I would have somewhat listened if they were suggesting that they had found a way to make solar panels get a decent return on moonlight. But moonbeam healing?

I seem to remember homoeopaths making a remedy out of moonbeams, and carrying out a "proving", but I can't find it right now. The nearest I can find is this.

The Moonbeam Song

by Harry Nilsson:

Have you ever watched a moonbeam
As it slid across your windowpane
Or struggled with a bit of rain
Or danced about the weathervane
Or sat along a moving train
And wondered where the train has been

Or on a fence with bits of crap
Around its bottom
Blown there by a windbeam
Who searches for the moonbeam
Who was last seen

Looking at the tracks
Of the careless windbeam
Or moving to the clacks
Of the tireless freight train
And lighting up the sides
Of the weathervane
And the bits of rain
And the windowpane
And the eyes of those
Who think they saw what happened...

Have you ever watched a moonbeam
As it slid across your windowpane
Or struggled with a bit of rain
Or danced about the weathervane
Or sat along a moving train
And wonder where the train has been?

Looking at the tracks
Of the careless windbeam
Or moving to the clacks
Of the tireless freight train
And lighting up the sides
Of the weathervane
And the bits of rain
And the windowpane
And the eyes of those
Who think they saw what happened...?

Yeah buddy, and a hell of a lot more attractive, hawgs & all, than anything Interstellar Light Applications has to offer, and at least as effective.
