I'm sure given the prevailing opinions regarding religion on this site that some of you are familiar with the documentary, Jesus Camp". I had not seen it until last night. Having grown up in a "religious" General Baptist household and having tested the waters in several other types of churches over the years, I thought I had seen most everything. I was wrong. I came away from this movie angry and upset and, to a degree, fearful. Shades of David Koresh but in mainstream society! The video gives you a glimpse into some pentecostal churches and were about what I expected. Hiowever, the looks into pentecostal home schools and especially the pentecostal "Jesus Camp" (summer bible camp for kids) made me wonder when the troops were gonna come marching down my street. At one point they show children as young as 5 and 6 at the altar praying and speaking in tongues with a life-size cardboard cutout of George W. They have children singing hyms and performing in in their sanctuary in camoflauge with simulated weaponry. And, according to the filmmakers, the pastor of the largest and most extreme church shown in the video is a very frequent personal guest at the White House. Thinking I need to take my head out of the political sand.

Those who danced were thought quite insane by those who could not hear the music.
