My girlfriend, my daughter and I attended Roy Zimmerman's "PeaceNick" show last night at the 142 Throckmorton Theatre in Mill Valley, California. What a wonderful heap of joyful skeptical and secular holiday joy!

Roy has a large number of his mostly humorous songs available for viewing on You Tube. In person, as one might expect, Roy's even better. Plus, he sang quite a few songs that don't appear on You Tube (the Internet venue which he described as an example of how "democracy just doesn't work.")

His show ran about two hours, not counting an intermission. Roy is a very energetic performer, and related well to the intimate gathering at the Throckmorton. Though most of his songs are pointed humor, he also sang two or three very sad songs.

Zimmerman lives in Marin County, California with his wife (who co-writes some of his songs) and two teen-aged boys. The boys go to school with my girlfriend's son. Zimmerman mentioned that he's of mixed German and Swedish ancestry, and his wife is Norwegian.

I was able to speak with Roy before the how. I told him how so many of us at SFN followed his songs. (He knows our site.) When I mentioned to him that he is the only "Z" on the list of American atheists at Wikipedia, he told me that made him feel somewhat lonely.

Christmas is Pain is priceless.

I know the rent is in arrears
The dog has not been fed in years
It's even worse than it appears
But it's alright-

Yes! Zimmerman's Bob Dylan impression is perfection.
