This item comes in under the category: Just THIS In---or maybe NOT.

It seems there's no chance for getting real these days.

OY!

She declared herself a virgin again after 2 kids? I wonder how the two kids feel about mom declaring the circumstances of their conception a mistake.

And now hundreds of women are being surgically altered in an attempt to deny reality and make sure they bleed the next time they have sex? Gee, how romantic for their honeymoon.

For crap's sake, nobody lives their life perfectly through their own eyes. Doing things we later regret is how we learn. Just move on, people!

I'm now imagining some woman who spends money and recovery time on surgery to replace her hymen and then has it break while doing something other than sex. Idiots.

From the article:
And what does it mean to "lose" one's virginity?
Apparently now it means that you haven't really lost it, you've just misplaced it for a while.

Maybe that's how Mary did it. Nah, no anesthesia back then.

It's not just limited to the US:

I'm surprised conservative Christians aren't denouncing this since it basically allows people to just keep on having premarital sex without feeling bad about it. People can do what they want and then later if they feel guilt, just say, "Okay, do over!"

Edited to add: Rather like how a lot of Catholics use confession.

In Sweden, the general population isn't so much concerned with virginity or not. As far as I know anyway. However, Rehymenization has become an important subject for a sub-section of society: young women who's families are immigrants from Islamic countries where the culture is so much harsher against liberated women.

There have been several murders in Sweden, where young women have been murdered by members of their own family because of a break of tradition, in order to preserve the "family honour". Families that don't acknowledge the emancipation of women. It's a culture clash between a liberal society and an oppressive patriarchal and male-dominated one.

Those liberated women who have managed to live their own life without their family finding out, does now have an opportunity to save face for their family who wouldn't understand or accept the liberation. The surgery would make her appear the precious virgin her "family honour" demands of her to be.

The problem of immigrants' misplaced sense of "family honour" and the criminal actions performed to preserve it has been subject of much discussion in Sweden. At least this new surgery offers a way out for some of those afflicted.

To make a comment regarding the immediate content of the article:

"Have you already unwrapped the priceless gift of virginity and given it away?" asks the Web site for the Pregnancy Resource Center of Northeast Ohio, where Watts began working part-time after she reclaimed her virginity. "Do you now feel like 'second-hand goods' and no longer worthy to be cherished? Do you ever wish you could re-wrap it and give it only to your future husband or wife? Guess what...? You can decide today to commit to abstinence, wrapping a brand-new gift of virginity to present to your husband or wife on your wedding night."

It would be a Big Fat Lie, included fabricated evidence, to say to that new husband that you're virgin.
The idea of doing so is so dishonest it leaves me speechless.
Just an even more elaborate scheme to delude yourself.

Unless you might be a young woman from an oppressing family where your very life depends on maintaing the appearence of virginity.

Edited to add:
I suppose that women who were virgins when they were raped could possibly get some kind of psychological relief by having their hymen restored.

I'd like to point out that a good number of women do not have their hymen broken while losing their virginity. Widespread use of tampons and intense physical activities break a lot of them. This whole broken hymen thing has always been a mystery to me 'cause I don't even know when mine was broken! The longer one waits to have sex, the higher change of the hymen being broken through other means. Do some women actually get upset if they don't ruin the sheets on their wedding night?
