           	| Great news for the Democratic candidate for President (whoever that turns out to be): It looks as though Ben Stein himself is going to be the GOP's own Ralf Nader spoiler/nightmare. Apparently, Stein's running for President! There are a lot of embittered, batshit crazy fundies out there who are upset that McCain beat Romney and Huckabee. (Of course, that's their own fault for not uniting the theonazis behind one or the other.) If McCain had problems before, they've just multiplied.
There's a possibility that this "Ben Stein for President" thing's intended merely as an advertising gimmick for his movie, "Expelled," but even if so, that kind of thing could quickly get out of hand. Betcha John McCain ain't laughing.

 Go, Batty Ben go!

| That is a site like the "draft Gore" thing.
Ben isn't running, that is just a group of people who want him to run.

| Good! That would be even better, because Stein will find it harder to put the kibosh on the campaign.| Originally posted by Dude

Edit: BTW, it appears to me from the style and slickness involved that the "group of people" behind the campaign are, at this point, mainly the backers of the movie.

| My point: Stein isn't running for president.
 Your OP makes the claim:

 | It looks as though Ben Stein himself is going to be the GOP's own Ralf Nader spoiler/nightmare. Apparently, Stein's running for President! |
Which is not what the the site you link to indicates at all.

 Just sayin.

| Oh, now I see. You're right, of course. That should be, "Stein is being run for President." The extent to which he himself runs for, or runs away from, the Presidency is yet to be seen.| Originally posted by Dude

| My bet would be against him inserting himself into the race as anything other than what he is, a political comedian.
Its sad, really. Before this "expelled" crap I used to like Ben Stein. He is funny! Had a show on Comedy Central, "Win Ben Stein's Money", which was a riot. His cameo's in movies, and his satire of politics in general over the last 20 years earned him some respect.

Now he seems to have thrown it away by jumping head-first in with the insane theocratic evolution deniers. Its pathetic.

| I agree with you about Stein's talent, and I'm one who only reluctantly praises jerks for any real accomplishments. (I thought Michael Jackson was a fine singer and dancer in his glory days, and OJ Simpson was once one Hell of a fine football player.)
Stein can be a riot. I really suspect he was hired to portray this new role of the intellectual, skeptical Jew, coming to the defense of persecuted IDiots, as though they faced a secular Holocaust.

I suspect, though have no evidence, that he's just in this for the money. Ahmanson's money, maybe, or Rev. Moon's. (I'd like to know the investors Expelled!) But if he's really serious, then I suspect he's a born-again Christian Jew now, like Luskin, but secretly.
