So for the sake of my curiosity can you list those countries where the majority of people do not proclaim to be Christian and they do not profess the Bible and that you see as a "better place" then the US of A?
Again, let's keep the focus of this thread on the book in question. If you want to discuss what you've written above, start a new thread in the General Discussion, Politics, or Religion folders. Thanks!

Yes, I was. It was the "God brought these people together to help homeless people of Ft. Worth" part that I found irritating. While this country is not officially "Christian", the majority of its citizens claim to be Christion and follow the dictates of the Bible which allows slavery, and the after-effects of slavery are the ultimate causes of this man's problems (or so the review implied), and slavery has been supported by Christians for hundreds of years.

I'll start a new topic next time.
The whole quote was

The book has a very Christian point of view of how God brought these people together to help the poor and homeless in Ft Worth.

It was just a description of the book and not any commentary on whether it was true or not. You seem to think that if someone is a Christian they can do no good because of what people did in the past. Why? You immediatley focused on the wrong issue. The main point of my revioew was to encourage people that they can do good and change things even if they start by themselves. Do you hate Christianity so much that you cannot see that what these people did was good?

Well said. If you ignore the 'Christian' part, you have a story that, evidently, stands quite well on it's own merits and with a sound moral.

There has appeared another thread, "God is Great?" that has the potential to be a good place to discuss Christianity, among other aspects of religion.

I really should have started a new topic from the beginning.

I did not mean to criticize the book itself, which seems to have a good message in that prople can make a difference. I was crtitcizing the notion that attributed this chance hook-up to a benevelant act of God. Thats why I responded. I know its probably only a minor part of the book, and probably does not diminish its moral message, but that attitude stinks (IMHO). BTW, I do not hate Christianity. Some of my best friends are Christians.

Feel free to continue this in the new thread: God id Great?
