 quote:Hehe.. I know what you mean. Whenever I teach a class, I begin by asking who is offended if I swear. I try to turn on my personal "naughty words filter," but it doesn't always work. I really don't feel too bad about it, though, since nobody tells me it bothers them, and I believe the kids think it's cool that the guy teaching their Physics class cusses like a Sailor.Now that I'm in the civilian world, I've really had to start censoring myself

| I would think that no skeptic would harbor any superstitions concerning taboo or "curse" words. While one might mouth the words "bless you" or "damn you," the utterance of these phrases has no influence on the chain of cause and effect.

| I'm behind a Serfwatch fireblock, or something like that.
 I cannot access the pages with certain words in the heading, not the body of the threads, only the heading.

 The several specific words are: hardcore, bitch, shit, etc.

 I don't think I can post in the threads, however I can read them. On my angelfire webpage I transload the pages, one at a time, to file, then view the file. Most of the graphics are missing, but all the text is there.

 Perhaps you'll could substitute phrases like: female dog in heat, human defecation, extremely graphic or explicit.

| How 'bout a naughty word revisionist history filter? (-;
 Example: (Piltdown writes:)

 quote:
 What the ***** is this ****? Have you ******** been listening to *******-**** moralizing ****ies? I don't got no ***** naughty words ***** filter, I don't ******** need no naughty word filter, ***** this ****. Only a *****-**** ****-**** of a ****** ***** would need this ******* ****-****.
 Well, I guess you can block *****, ****, and **** if you like. Nobody needs that kind of *****-**** ****ing ****, not even ******* ***** ****** **** creationists.

 And the filter interpolates:

 What the beautiful thing between two people is this message comparable to excrement? Have you beautiful thing between two people been listening to Oedipus related intercourse moralizing sexually disadvantagedies? I don't got no beautiful thing between two people naughty words Oedipus related intercourse filter, I don't beautiful thing between two people need no naughty word filter, beautiful thing between two people this message comparable to excrement. Only a beautiful thing between two people, message comparable to excrementof a Oedipus related intercourse would need this Oedipus related intercourse.
 Well, I guess you can block excrement, Oedipus related intercourse, and beautiful thing between two people if you like. Nobody needs that kind of Oedipus related intercourseing excrement, not even Oedipus related intercourseing creationists.

| I voted "Censorship is more offensive than a vulgar word" and here's why: When I was in the 8th grade (back in the dark ages of the early '60s) our English teacher (fresh out of college) assigned us "Brave New world" by Aldous Huxley. She collected the money and ordered for everyone. The books arrived on a monday and by wednesday, the shit had the fan. Parents had called the principal about the "filth" we were being forced to read. To save her job, the teacher had to take the books back. I was about halfway through it and had left it at home, so I didn't have to turn mine in that day. That night, I told my father what had happened and he told me to finish it before I turned it in. He sat me down and said words to the effect of "censorship is evil and we (your mother and I) will never censor what you read or see". Since that day, I have had a "take it or leave it attitude" toward pornography.
 I believe that censorship *causes* prurient interest.

 OMG, that exactly proves my theory I call 'The Sleeping Beauty Syndrone', that is, if something is kept secret it is more curious to people/kids and becomes more important then it is. Pornography and drugs being two of the things that are thought of as evil and needing to be hidden away.
 I even had Playboy magazines around the house in plan sight, no big deal. So he wouldn't have to sneak around to get one. It actually worked against me though, he likes women now, something I'm sorry for because I had hoped he'd be gay and never marry.
