Was just watching the news program on NBC 'Dateline' interview the parents of a newly returned pow. The mother said, 1st I'd like to thank the lord, and then went on to comment...''They (the pow's) were captured on a Sunday and were released on a Sunday. Don't tell me there's no hand of the lord involved.''
WHAT the Hell does that mean? Am I missing something because it makes no sense to me.
Is there anyone out there who can explain that to me?

Just saw the same show. Too bad the father seems like a decent sane guy, but mom is a nutter.
And what is that thing on top of Stone's head. Are we supposed to believe that that is hair?

Simple. Anything, anything at all with the remotest connection to Christian doctrine sets off the "God alert" in people's heads. They see "Sunday" and think "God" without regard to the fact that they surely weren't praising God on the day their kids were captured.

I believe that, as a species, human beings define their reality through suffering and misery.

I hadn't caught that -- my toob is still disfunctional; a blessing, methinks. If there's something I really want to watch, I impose upon my younger daughter and son-in-law.

I couldn't be happier to see the POWs returned. I'm prefectly willing to overlook an idiot statement or two -- write it off to the joy of the parents, who are even happier than I at their child's deliverence.

Besides, why should one expect rationality out of religion? It just ain't there. Never has been, never will be.

If he had been captured, say, on a Thursday, then released on a Sunday, the story would have been, "The Lord chose to release him on His day, but didn't alow him to be captured on the sabbath..." Or the other way around. Or any other way you can make it stretch. It's kind of related to the "if it's meant to be it will be" attitude.
