And I'm risking everyones disapproval by telling you this so be easy with me..... I can't resist..... When I see a jesus fish symbol on someones car and I'm walking by I casually slip my fingernail under the little fin edge and flick it off.
I certainly disapprove (but I wouldn't lose any sleep over it if I were you )! I have a Darwin fish, and I'd be pissed as hell if some loser fundy ripped it off. Don't stoop...

Well, I recently finnished reading the bible. About half way through I was so disgusted with the thing that I made the decision when I finnished I would take a bible and burn it. I'm not endorsing book burning, this was just a personal form of protest , and sort of cerimony of confirming my seperation with that part of my upbringing.
For more socialy acceptable activism my local skeptic's organization has mailed everyone that Dennis Lee is going on tour of all the states to sell his free-energy machines. They would like members to show up at these events to hand out flyers. Might get into doing that. www.syc.org/e/dennis.html

Some well-meaning fundy did steal my Darwin fish a while back. I know it was a well-meaning fundy because they replaced it with a Jesus fish. Steal for the lord, hallelujah!

Does this mean they are telling us it is alright to steal their Jesus fish, as long as we replace them with Darwin fish?

Atheistic activism hasn't really organized, has it? No, my disbelief is expressed by example only, and it will likely stay that way. I value freedom of belief, and to impose my disbelief on another is to attempt to take that freedom of belief from them. An the flip side, I can become hostile (in a verbal manner) when somebody starts to preach at me. But, I am an accomodating person, and have gone so far as to host a gospel radio show when the regular host was out for the weekend. How hypocritical is that? My dilemma is what to teach my kids? I think they should choose their own path, but how many paths will they not be exposed to because of my lack of faith?

Some time ago I heard about a court case in Norway. Muslims won the right to use a PA system to announce "Allah Akbar" (is that the right term?) 'God is Great' during their daily prayer times.
So the local athiests went to court and secured the right to use PA systems to announce "god does not exist". Equal time after all.

Nice! We could start printing bumper stickers that quote Mel Brooks (I think). "There is no god, and Moses is his prophet."
Not all change is progress. |
