Not terribly new, travesty first reared its ugly head with Phillip Johnson, Boalt Professor of Law at the University of CA, Berkeley. Early to mid 90's I think. He also has to do with the HIV/AIDS virus is a myth garbage.

Perhaps "New ID Ammunition" would have been a better title. The point is, it's probable that ID proponents will soon be pointing to this new, January 2004 Harvard Law Review piece with unwarranted glee.

"`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe."

And what pray, do a passel of fledgling lawyers know about evolutionary biology and indeed, science in general? Doodly squat, that's what!

I don't think this adds a whole lot to the IDiot movement. It might be legal to put gibberish in schools but it still ain't science and just won't cut it in the classroom. As the GA and KS mess' have demonstrated, there are still enough intelligent and educated people out there to throttle it.

'O course, that is what the nitwits are trying to quash: intelligence and education.

While Jabberwocky can be sung, it usually sounds dreadful.

It can indeed be sung and it lends it's self quite well to it, if you do it just right. When I lived ib VT, I had a couple of friends who used to perform on the Local bar room / college coffee house circute. They sang the Jabberwocky snycopated; it has to be heard to be believed.

Wonderful music!
