That was from a bumper sticker I saw. It was "Cthtulu/Asmodeus, when you're tired of voting for the lesser of two evils". I took it as a whimsical tagline.

Cthtulu is a H P Lovecraft elder God. (Evil, intent on destroying the world.) His book, "Call of Cthtulu" is a good primer.

Asmodeus is a high demon prince.

While I'm still saying Barney, Sideshow Bob might not be all that bad a choice. The reason is all of his murder attempts on Bart, and in their last meeting (Bob's brother blowing up the dam along with Bob and Bart), they became friends of sorts.

Many if not most fixated murders have some sort of sexual hang-up and it's not impotentence, it's often homosexuality. John Wayne Gacy, for example. If Bob has given up attempted Bartacide and should again be realeased from the poogie, he could indeed, be our closet gay.

Or am I reaching too far?

Smithers is more or less out of the closet for us the viewers, but if he's coming out to the rest of the characters it could be him. I think it's a character coming out to all of us including the viewers, and while I've considered Rainier Wolfcastle, I don't think it is him, and neither is it Ned Flanders (he's like the most religious person except for Reverend Lovejoy). But then again, Ned Flanders would be something of a surprise (in that regard, anyway) and also make a point in their "message", perhaps? But really, it could be pretty much anyone. Also, did they say whether it would be a male or female character? Patty or Selma are possible I guess.

I would say that Ned Flanders is much more religious than Reverend Lovejoy. Do you remember when the Rev. was walking his dog, stops by Ned's house and says to his dog something like, "Ok, time to make the poopie" and then Ned comes out and he says "Bad dog!"?

Anyways, my favorite quote on the Simpons has to do with this too:

"I've done everything the Bible says - even the stuff that contradicts the other stuff!" - Ned Flanders

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

Ricky, if you've never read any Lovecraft I'd reccomend giving it a shot. It's pretty good stuff. Saw some new editions of some of his books at Barnes&Noble recently...

Kent Brockman......?

We really don't know much about Kent's off-stage life. We know that he is wealthy and seems to be pretty much like most talking heads -- a weasle -- but beyond that, very little. For example, we've never seen his wife, if he has one, nor any of his relitives. Also, we know of no close friends, male or female, and he is sometimes a prick to his stations employees.

But we do know that he likes the 'finer' things such as keeping a year 'round tan, expensive jewelry, and good booze (we can assume in moderation) from quality crystal.

His only relationship to Homer thus far is reporting his disasters and disasterous triumphs, along with the occasional, snotty remark.

Closet gay? Not enough evidence, I think. I'll have to study the re-runs more closely between now and January.

'Cthtulu/Asmodeus'

Asmodeus is one of the nine demons of Babylon(? I think). He's the one who brings discord into human life and prolongs suffering through his use of discord. That's if I have the right demon and the right demonology.

Edited to add:
My bad - Asmodeus is the demon that interferes in sexuality. Used in early Christianity as the demon that represented Lust.

Hmm. Smithers has been obvious for a long time, so I doubt it'll be him. The other characters mentioned aren't quite important enough for a "message"...so my guess is someone in the Simpson family...none other than BART.

Kent has a daughter though....not that that would rule him out....

Erm, Bart's already been done. Marge became friends with a gay shop-keeper and to Homer's dismay, Bart liked him as well. So, Homer and the crew from Moe's took him deer hunting to 'make a man of him'. Long story short: the gay guy saved everybody from stampeding, captive reindeer. Also, Barts been in futile love a couple of times.

I had considered Moe, but he's so screwed up that who the hell knows? He has had at least one hertrosexual relationship, however, which might or might not signify something.

Erm, much easier to Google for Cthulhu when you spell his name correctly.

This site has a Cthulhu Fish bumper sticker:

well the possibilities are many.

I think we can count out all of the majors which include the simpsons, flanderses, standard married guys like wiggum, apu, lovejoy and hibbert.

Lenny and Carl have that weird man-love thing going, but their relationship is timeless and IMO untouchable.

If it was Smithers it would be a huge letdown.

Patty and Selma are too obvious, that and they love Mcguiver.

Having stuff happen to crap characters like bleeding gums murphy only makes a crappy episode, so I think it will be a regular.

Sideshow Bob is tired and I dont think he'll be back.

Willie is a psycotic loner.

Barney is a good guess but I dont think so. (he fell off the wagon if im not mistaken.)

For me that leaves,

Skinner,
Krusty
Brockman
Wolfcastle
Comic Book Guy
Disco Stu
Lou and Eddie
Otto
Santas little helper

With an outside chance at one of the married folks.

If I had to pick one Ill go with Skinner

I dunno about Skinner. He had a brief, failed affair with Patty (shudder) and has had a long term, broom-closet romance going with Edna Kerbopple, if I've spelled that right. I think he's more of a mama's boy than anything else.

When did Barney fall off? I must have missed that.

Krusty might still be in the running, even though he has a daughter. He is addicted to porn, but we don't know what sort of porn.

And I wonder about Selma. Were all of her marriags attempts to deny her real sexuality?

Better to use the appropriate search engine:

Its "Krabappel". Got that from this site:
