Sometimes the best jokes are the ones that tell themselves!

The foundation of morality is to . . . give up pretending to believe that for which there is no evidence, and repeating unintelligible propositions about things beyond the possibliities of knowledge.

How smart does one have to be to decieve millions of people into believing something written 2000 years ago based on word of mouth rather than science which has grown over the past 200 years based on physical data?

I would say pretty damn smart.

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

Hovind's intellegence has certainly never been in question, at least not by me. While I don't consider him anywhere near Einstein's level, he is far from stupid.

The same can be said for Ted Bundy, but let's not go there.

Dr? Dino has few if any ethics. I'm not entirely sure that he believes his own blather, but it has elevated him to national, indeed international, recognition. If he can beat his tax problems (already has? I haven't been keeping track), he will eventually reach Falwell status (another, far bigger, creep).

As I and others have stated before, he is an embarrasment even to other creationists and I think that's just the way he wants it. His following is smaller that AiG's or ICR's, but they are all but rabid. And their numbers are growing. Witness the rapt near-worship demonstrated by the denizens SkepticTimes, most of whom are also not stupid.

This brings up interesting questions concerning human thought process' that I don't have any answers to.

Hovind is a shrewd huckster who, like the best of con-men, knows his marks and the best ways to exploit them.

Could that be because the sane people posting at Skeptic Times has a history as Skeptic Friends?
Well, if they are not stupid, at least they are gullible.
