From Presidents need contact with God, says Bush
President George Bush has placed religion at the centre of American politics by insisting all US presidents needed a relationship with God to do their job.

So Dubya reckons that to be president you need contact with God. This, the latest load of baloney from the resident nutcase.

I suppose this excludes an Atheist or Agnostic from ever becoming president....

As a stupid comment it's right up there with Pappa Bush's "No, I don't know that Atheists should be considered as citizens, nor should they be considered patriots. This is one nation under God."

What have these wankers got against us???

Edited 'cos I hit "post" instead of "preview".

Mistakes are a part of being human. Appreciate your mistakes for what they are: precious life lessons that can only be learned the hard way. Unless it's a fatal mistake, which, at least, others can learn from.

Al Franken

I don't think its a big deal. Its his personal view.

My view is that a born again fundie or any one that have a personal relationship with God or any other imaginary being is unfit for the job.

Baby-Bush don't have to vote for or endorse atheists and I don't endorse or vote for fundies and other schizophrenic induhviduals.

Papa-Bush statement on the other hand is an insult to all American atheists....

A little bit late on that one since 51% of the American public would not vote for an atheist to be president. I'll have to find where I got that statistic from.

The founding fathers have just rolled over in their graves.

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

With the current administration this might be used as an energy source.....
