Oh, I see.

God is a turn off to the young so they present the package to young impressionable minds without using the "G" word, until they are sucked in and then WHAM easy pickings.

This is the Religious Rights way of getting some street cred.

But don't they risk going to you-know -where by denying their god even a little bit.

Are you saying that these people are the pointy end of fundamentalist literalist movements?

Where do they sit on the continuum(sp?)?

Ok...

In what way, then, does ID succeed as a philosophy? What does it do?

Just because you can call almost anything a philosophy doesn't really mean that it is one. Like the silly beer philosophy, ID has merely been labeled such.

No. But all sciences have legit philosophy. All legit philosophies contribute something, provide some insight or guidance.

What insights does ID provide that don't rely on already falsified empirical claims?

Actually, it was the U.S. Supreme Court which ruled the Creationists they couldn't use the G-word in science classrooms. They still burn to spread the Word, however.
