| What a marvelous time that was! Acanthostega, icthyostega, and now this. How many more of these remarkable amphibians remain to be found?
And to the intelligent design turkeys, I must point out that just barely short of 100% of all species ever on earth are extinct. Some intelligence; some design, huh?

| Here's a more complete take on it: quote:Tiktaalik rosae
Well, here it is in all it's beautiful glory, another piece in the tetrapod origins story has just arrived in two articles in Nature today. I'll give you the chance to oggle at some of the beautiful specimens before I get into the details of what, apart from the obvious makes this thing so interesting.

quote:a, Left lateral view; b, dorsal view with enlargement of scales; and c, ventral view with enlargement of anterior ribs. See Fig. 3 for labelled drawing of skull in dorsal view. Abbreviations: an, anocleithrum; bb, basibranchial; co, coracoid; clav, clavicle; clth, cleithrum; cbr, ceratobranchial; ent, entopterygoid; hu, humerus; lep, lepidotrichia; mand, mandible; nar, naris; or, orbit; psp, parasphenoid; ra, radius; suc, supracleithrum; ul, ulna; uln, ulnare. Scale bar equals 5 cm. From Daeschler et al. 2006

quote:Still haven't seen anything from ICR or Aneurysms in Genesis on it.This is Tiktaalik roseae, a lobe-finned fish from the Late Devonian Fram Formation of Arctic Canada. The key features that make this animal a lobe-finned fish are the limbs which clearly have a humerus that branches out to a radius and ulna, like our own limbs. But Tiktaalik is clearly different. It has foregone a lot of the other lobe-finned fish conditions for characteristics that are much more like a tetrapod. In fact, Tiktaalik is without question the most tetrapod-like sarcopterygian known to date, and it fills an important gap in the fossil record. Clearly, it's can no longer be safely jammed into that "fish" category.

That is because they are studying this closely in their scientific labs and research facilities.

What is your world view based upon again? Faith, testimonials, and co-opted stories. Compelling. How could I have missed it?

Yeah, totally unlike a Chick tract.

Oh, and how can something be based on both nothing AND cartoons?

| Lighten up, Bill. It's just poking a little fun at people whose world view is based upon a book that describes talking snakes and donkeys, claims of magic, xenophobic madness, and post-mortem pie in the sky for all who swear total fealty.
My world view is based upon things like the previous link I posted, that I'd wager a sawbuck against a bent nickle you didn't open. So, here it is again. Do try to glean something from it.

Natural Selection ends up being nothing. It is not observed and randomness does not create complex and meaningfull information, ever. So it is nothing. Add in your cartoons and you guys are really rolling...

You didn't get it. If something is based on nothing, it cannot also be based on something...oh and you are dead wrong and/or lying to top it off.
