I wouldn't lose any sleep over it dglas. It would appear there are enough of us gaming types to make it turn up again... and again.. and again.
In fact I'd go out on a limb and predict that it'll probably be mentioned in chats another 3d10-2 times this year.

Maybe we should get some sort of online RPG program (like Fantasy Grounds or WebRPG) and form a playgroup... |

Don't tempt me. I run a game for a handful of mates that hasn't had an update in the best part of a year, and our "weekly" game nights (which can be anything from "conventional" cards through to RPG's or even LAN gaming) happen about 6 times a year. All the free time was definitely one of the best things about being a teenager. Grumble, moan.
(BTW, OpenRPG is pretty good if you're looking for something along those lines). |

Sorry I didn't take part in Sunday's chat.
Speaking of RPGs, I now have a character in City of Villains named "Cartoon Devil." Cartoon Devil is bright red, has horns on his head, and a til which ends with a spearhead-shaped tip. CD's back-story is that he as summoned to actuality by billions of people seeing millions of cartoon representations of the Devil over a long period of time. So, even though the "faith" level of all those people is mostly on the low end of the spectrum, the accumulative effect of this stereotypical media "devil" was to summon CD into the real world. Cartoon Devil is delighted that he now longer has to do gigs like being a tiny demon standing on one shoulder of someone, while a "sissy angel" stands on the opposite shoulder. He's also happy he no longer has to shill for "devilled ham" canners and other corporate interests.

What amazes me, Dave, when reading that old thread, is how stable this site has been in terms of some of its regular members. 2004, and many of the same "faces."

I've been role-playing and gamemastering since the dawn of time. My RPG of choice is Feng Shui - a Hong Kong action roleplaying game. And, yes, I could be convinced to run a game online using WebRPG (or something similar - WebRPG has the advantage of permitting open and closed 2d6 rolls) and Ventrilo.
That's why I use "In the hell of 1000 unresolved subplots..." in my signature. It's the torment of the GM and a reference to "Big Trouble in Little China," a very Feng Shui film.
But remember: Play fantasy, don't live it, mmmmkay? |

I downloaded OpenRPG and am looking at it now. It looks like WebRPG may have been built on OpenRPG, so it is not perfectly unfamiliar. It looks like if it were used in conjunction with ventrilo, it could be passable. Take some cstomization though for something other than d20 though... |
