I'm not on AOL. Which is why the difference.
I can understand the difference in using the back thingie but going on a web site has nothing to do with what server one is on. The web site should look the same no matter.
quote: The main forum that shows all the topics for discussion then you select one and get all the sub-folders that you select and can read all the responses and reply if you'd like. The little folder icons are missing. And well, I can only see the most recent subject under the first set of folders with no way to see anything else.
Have you tried using that little box on the upper left side that says, how long ago to you want to see date of last posts? You can choose one hour, one day, one week...... Unless that's not what you mean. LOL, maybe I should be glad I can't log off, that might happen to me too. I'm stuck in the Twilight Zone of bliss on this web site. quote:
I have to log off and log on again to see the forum, otherwise I get the run time error message.
It's obnoxious.
When I get an error message I ignor it. Then try again to use the web site by refreshing or link on and off of something or whatever. A lot of times it works. Otherwise, I'm on game 602 of Free Cell, it's fun.

I feel so left out. Where are all these errors everyone is talking about? If this is the only topic that pops up, well, we will have to have all our discussions about everything in this folder. Did you know Lewis Carrol was possibly a pedophile? I'm not sure how many pairs of shoes he owned though!

Arrrgh! I'm going to have so much reading and catching up to do! How are you guys still navigating and posting? The only reason I can post to this thread is that it happens to be the most recent in the topic. I can't choose discussions, it just takes me to the last discussion in each topic if I click on the VBScript error.

Ditto for me. I can only get the most recent post. Now if we can just get this going through the holidays. After the first of the year I will have the time to move all this!

Oh Gees, do I have to take charge of everything? I keep telling you there a bar you can click that let's you choose which posts you want to see. A week ago, an hour ago and so on. It on the upper left side of the page. What is wrong with you.

Snake, if you are able to navigate SFN with no problems, more power to you, but I, along with a few others here, keep getting this whenever we try to see the latest posts:
Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a000d'
Type mismatch: 'Session'
/forum/active.asp, line 107

Same here. I can't even access this from home anymore, so I assume it has to do with computer size and speed. At work, all I can get is a partial list of the active forums since 1953.

Heh, he, he. LOL, for once I feel like I can do more than someone else, na na! And everyone tries to tell me AOL is shit, na na. I must admite I just tried to go to a couple of the links on here and they didn't completly work but most did. And I can read the Active Topics which is all that I do anyway. Na, na BTW, my computer is over 3 years old came with Win 95 and last year 98 was read in, that's about all I know about this machine so I guess it's not so fast as a new one. Boy! I can post all kinds of stuff on here now and no one will see it. LOL

The severity of my problems have fluctuated, though they seem manageable right now.
Today, I can get to the main forum topics page, though sometimes I have to refresh the page to get past the error screen. Same for when I pick a topic.
At it's worst, though, I found I could get to topics by searching.
Go to the search function, set it to Subject Line, and search on the main category like "General Discussion". It will bring up all the threads in that category, though in a manner that's a little bit difficult to read. But once you open one of the postings, you're on that topics board and can navigate normally within it. Then search again for another topic.

Of course, now that I've explained how it works for me, it's stopped working for me. It's a good thing I'm not superstitious or I'd be upset that when I knocked on wood earlier it didn't work, and I'd probably throw away my lucky rabbit's foot and St. Patrick's medal, not to mention getting rid of the horseshoe over my door and the coin I flip when I absolutely must win a bet.
But I'm not superstitious so I can keep all those things. Man, am I lucky or what?

Snake, I don't know how you are coming in, but I'd love to get whatever program it is that is preventing the runtime errors on your machine. I get these (insert favorite explecitive here) runtime errors every time I want to view a forum or message listing. I have to go to the page I want, go to another page and then use the browser back button.
Computers are just so naughty, I could just pinch them.

For what it's worth, I can independently verify that the AOL browser does indeed work nearly normally with the forum, as Snake has indicated. I am logged on to AOL at work, through the cable modem. The runtime errors do appear but less frequently, and they are correctable by reload/refresh. The active topics screen appears to work normally.
