Wow, this is whacked!

Strawmen, strawmen, everywhere. As if that's not enough, get a load of the game pieces.

I swear to christ, this stuff isn't even funny anymore.

Ah well, for an atheists' view of it: http://friendlyatheist.com/2006/12/28/last-second-gift/

What brought that on? this. Original posting here.

Another example of this guy's lunacy here.

From article:

At last, a board game that reveals the insanity of perhaps the greatest hoax of our times -- the unscientific "theory of evolution."

Yes, evolution is unscientific. I mean all those fossils and DNA evidence, not to mention the observed speciation is not as scientific as...... well, what is it that ID has produced again? There is that uh... you know all those contemporary historians that mention Jesus... uh... wait no, what about the chariots and dead soldiers with armor on the bottom of the red sea.... wait no, hold on, I am sure there is some evidence here. Oh I know the banana! It is clearly intelligently designed for the human hand! There, scientific proof that evolution is a big poopy pants.

Strawmen, eh? Hell, we can do strawmen!

Consider this a tribute to whoever did that neat Photoshopping job of Dembski as the Cowardly Lion.

Let 'em keep their weenie board game....we've got Spore!

"We are all connected; to each other biologically, to the earth chemically, to the rest of the universe atomically."

As an additional response, I see Comfort as the Demand Side of ID. Look how he uses it. ID isn't science to begin with, and, predictably, we see how a real Bible-thumping conman actually employs it as pure mythic apologetics to support his "greater" mythology. And Comfort is the same fruitcake who wrote Nostradamus: Attack on America & More Amazing Prophecies. That's science, too, I suppose.

ID, Nostradamus, it's all the same at the consumer end. (Actually, it's pretty much the same thing at the manufacturer's end, too.)

As to the strawmen images that ig pointed out in the opening post, frankly I'm getting sick of them. I asked a few guys from AiG if they actually thought that according to evolution, a dog is supposed to give birth to a cat, as was in their presentation. I can't remember what they said in response, but I'm fairly sure it didn't answer the question.

I try my best to believe that Creationists are not being dishonest and really think they are making accurate critiques of evolution. Then I remember things such as the "sheepdog" (in the link), and it just gets that much harder. Can anyone who really studies evolution believe that it claims these things and be serious? I find that even harder to believe than Creationism.

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

I think these con-men do this stuff with two things in mind: One, they hope that many of their least evolved parishioners will believe it literally, and two, when caught by knowledgeable people, they can always say it was just a joke. This way, they can't be held to account. Slippery as always.

Ah, it's a quote-mining game:
Through the game we show the irrational nature of evolution, using their own beliefs and quotes.
Spreading the Gospel through lies - how else can more people be "saved?"

Slaughter them right after baptism. That way, they can't be guilty of anything.

Do you think they study evolution? These guys are like Rodd and Todd, lala'ing with ear muffs on. They believe what makes them feel better and don't question their stawmen arguments, because that would mean actually studying and realizing they are on the wrong side. Creationism is an appeal to the heart. This is why so many creationism arguments are "what if your wrong?" or "why be good or go on living without god?"

“Intelligent Design versus Evolution” also comes with a free award-winning DVD called “The Science of Evolution,” in which Comfort and Cameron take an orangutan to lunch and discuss the theory of evolution.

Haven't seen the DVD, but my bet is that the orangutan comes off looking like the much more intelligent species.

The foundation of morality is to . . . give up pretending to believe that for which there is no evidence, and repeating unintelligible propositions about things beyond the possibliities of knowledge.

They probably ask the Orangutan if it offends him that scientist say he was descended from a common ancester with humans.

Just a thought: Next time someone has a chance, if Ray Comfort has put on his lab coat and is pushing ID as science, ask him to explain how consistent his newfound interest in "science" is with his Nostradamus book. Maybe after a quick change into his wizard's robes, he'll answer.

Someone over at the FSTDT board has written up his correspondance with Comfort about the game. Geez, I thought that my letters to creationists were useless!
