Kierien is a flake and Otomo? Dunno, don't care, would rather take the precautions now than deal with a mess later.

Hehe, looks like I got Sequester good, what a moron... Act snotty and get it thrown back at you.
I must say I am surprised that the BA board has this many anti-greenhouse warming people. I thought the majority of the scientific community agrees we are mucking up things.

Kieren is a major bad science advocate posing as a scientist.

That surprised me too. While it's true that the earth has gone through periods of warming/cooling, wouldn't you think the rate that we're losing the earth's glaciers and ice caps would serve as some sort of hint? And John wants things warmer? I'm in South Freakin Dakota and it was 107F yesterday. Today by 0900 I'd already chucked my clothes in favor of a bathing suit. It's not even July yet, and I'm already looking back at the temp of -5F we had in January with some nostalgia. BTW, I think that Darrin guy has turned out to be a typical troll. He posted something any moron would know would get everyone's back up, and now has scooted, never defending his position. If he believes that crap so deeply, why not hang around and chat? Lisa

I too am loking back at the lower temperatures of winter with some nostalgia...
I think Craig L pretty much hit things on the head. Not enough people are willing to give up their comforts and toys to really effect a change in greenhouse gasses.
So where do I turn in my little Honda for Horse and buggy?

I'm getting rained on. We had about 8 inches in two days. The town north of me had 15. They say it's the worse flood there in 50 years. In 1993 we had a 500 year flood here, and I'm expecting another 500 year flood within a decade. We haven't had a dry year for 15 years, that is UNHEARD OF in Kansas. The weather is doing weird things and to say we aren't to blame is just plain dangerous I think. What possible harm could cutting down on greenhouse gasses do? John Kieren IS nuts.

With exception to the odd storm that makes the news...you really need to send some rain to your west! Last four years fire danger is high (we burned quite a bit of forest last year) and we've been on water restrictions for at least 10-15 years.

And John Kieren thinks this is all good? Does he live in a bunker somewhere? Changes can be made for the better. Laws are in place, and when they're enforced, the environment can recover. When I moved to Winchester, Virginia in about '72, you could damn near walk across the Potomac. It was filthy. Using existing laws, industries were made to clean up their acts. There was of course a lot of whining about how much it would cost, but they were told to suck it up. When I left that area in '81, the Potomac was actually a nice recreaction area. I'm sure John would mourn the money that these companies lost, having to devlope cleaner disposal systems, but I'd rather have a river I can't smell 10 miles away. Lisa

well...here's a news flash: John Kieren doesn't know what he's talking about.
makes me want to tell him to change his name, so there's no confusing me with him.

Okay, I'm getting pissed and staying out of the global warming flame war from now on (sheesh, not even sure how I got involved in it)
I don't know who this Otomo idiot is but he just compared me to a creationist and an HBer since I posted that space.com link about the antarctic scientists saying the antarctic is breaking up.
We CAN SEE it breaking up, what more proof does he want.
Also I use think John Kieren had half a brain, now I realize I was overestamating him. :)

Nope, never made it to the PI. Shadowman has though, back in the 80's. He says Subic is now a nature preserve, and actually pretty nice. But back in the 80's, whoo-whee! Carry your gas mask! A nice hot humid day (which in the PI is about 80% of the time) your eyes would water. I've seen pictures of the PI, and if they ever get their government and the terrorism under control, I'd love to go there. Lisa

Add Pancho to the list and I'll help. He's back and making less sense than ever. Lisa
