Amen to that, Rift!
not to mention how much I learn by eavesdropping on the explanations...

Well, Caity was told which websites she can visit and which ones she can't. BA is one she can visit. I wasn't watching her surfing (whoops!) until I went over to BA and saw her post...she absolutely loves astronomy and math and science. She's really tickled at all the replys she's gotten too.
Welcome BA. Thanks for your wonderful site.

Megan is visiting with her mother right now, and you all know her mother's views on skeptics. She has to be in town this week because she's attending a motorcycle safety course. She already has her learner's permit for a car (yes, in SD the age is 14), but she wants to be able to get her cycle permit ASAP. She's promised to post if she can, but she also can't piss off her new-age mommy. Hope for clear weather on the 27th! Megan and I are not only going to another star party, we're dragging my husband along! Plus, by then, maybe I'll have my very own telescope to drag up there. (I kind of doubt it, I don't know enough yet) Lisa

I've been riding motorcycles for 20 years, and have had a roadracing license for five (see my photo..please..;) ). I think that taking the MSF is the best way to learn to ride. Good for her!
Just remember, always wear a helmet and boots. Make sure that no skin is exposed, and weasring an armoured jacket and knee pads will save you a lot of skin grafts. The saying is, in my bikie community, be prepared for when you go down. We say when not if because coming off the bike is an eventuality, even for the best rider.

Yeah, early on I learned the lesson the hard way. Don't wear shorts while riding. It's been 20 years, so the scars have almost faded. Man, those heat fins HURT!! Also, if it's a nice sunny day, a halter top is not the way to go. Sunburn blisters hurt too. Don't worry, Megaboo (her nickname) has more sense at 14 than I had at 22. Lisa

Ah, so the gender determining chromosome is the most important attribute in determining "superiourity/inferiority"? You are saying that primary and secondary sexual characteristics are the most important attribute of humanity. Well, I'm sure that many porno sites would agree with you. You may continue believing that your genitalia is superiour than mine, if it makes you feel better.
I, disagreeing, would have to say that genetically most people aren't that different from each other, sexually or racially. The most important feature is in (ugh typos - scratch "is in", put "of". BABB sucks for typos) humanity is our (unfortuantely, potential in many cases) intelligence. Intelligence, I would think, is more suceptible to environmental factors than genetically set predispositions. This is to say that I don't believe there is a correlation between native intelligence and size or type of genitalia a person may possess.
To believe that genitals matter over intelligence seems very unintelligent.
Dang. I was hoping that PrionPatch was going to respond some more. I was just starting to get on a roll....
Double dang.

So, Bozola, you think PrionPatch is Piper? Maybe. Is it just me, or does it seem that Piper is never around when Patch is? Might be two sides of the same coin...

I was half expecting her(?) to start using iambic pentameter.
She(?) also claims that Patch not only knows what a prion is; Patch is a major player in the prion-business whose . . ."Name is Known". then claims > Find a neutral site which will accept your American Express and Patch will answer your question PLUS MUCH MORE (so much more that you will be sorry that you asked---unless you enjoy nightmares).
Bull. I know biochemists; I was a biochemist (I've since found that computers pay more, and you don't have hungry toxins everywhere trying to kill you). Prions are cool. Prions are mega-interesting. You cannot get a biochemist to shut up about this stuff. Ever. You have to have them kidnapped and packed away in a steamer crate just to get some peace and quite once they start! PrionPatch isn't a biochemist.
Heh. Did you know that a prion is formed by a mutation of a SINGLE nucleotide out of 760? This causes a different amino acid to be put in the protein, which just so happens causes the conformation of the protein to change to a new shape. This protein, called PrPc, is only found on the surface of mammalian neurons. The mutated PrPc protein, the prion, is dangerous only to non-mutant PrP proteins. What it does is catalytically change regular PrPc to Prion. Your nerve cells start dying as enough of the PrPc is converted to Prion.
Prion + PrPc = 2 Prions. Lovely.
Where's that steamer trunk....
I think she's a troll, like Piper. Yes, I really do think there is a noncasual connection between her(?) and Piper.

Gee, and I was just wondering if Computer Org wasn't Piper...based on a few posts. Yikes! Could they all be the same or are we just shooting at fairy fire?

I think Patch is Computer Org/Gauss. Always have thought that. I think Org is what Hub' would be if he was younger with more brain cells and more computer literate. Give him several more years of heavy drug use and we won't be able to tell Org from Hub' :)
The age for learner's permits in Kansas is 14 too. I thought that was pretty well standard, lol. But alot of things I take for granted here in Kansas I'm finding out is rather strange as far as the rest of the country goes, like getting gas at 7-11. :P And YES I have travelled a lot. :P I just suppose a lot of things you don't notice until you actually move somewhere...

You ever notice we go a long while without any piper, and then there is a short but sudden outburst? Sounds like a textbook manic-depressive to me. :P

Yeah, Computer Org and Patch write in similar styles...OK, maybe I can buy this.
Driving age in CO is 16 and they're talking about increasing it to 17 except in rural CO where you can petition for a limited permit at 14. (Yikes, this gets confusing!)
