Okay, Thanks Xev. My signature is #2338.

Under the comments section I wrote...

"And just what textbook are the Intelligent Design folks offering for use?"

Ditto here, Xev. Hey, I'm right after yours, Mespo_man.

Thanks, James. I live in Ohio and have a daughter in high school, so I have a personal stake in this. If it comes to down and dirty, I can bash the ID people with my 20 pound Oxford Press Bible. Talk about hurling Scripture!

I just signed it. My #'s 3823. Some more disturbing news:
quote:
We are playing for keeps. We need the Governor, the question is ‑ does he think he needs us? The avalanche of voter input opinions is pressuring him to at least think about it. So far, he remains uncommitted.

The latest development has a Board sub‑committee presenting a compromise. But it is a forked tongue treaty. It gives a little, but not the key elements. We are making it very clear, as you can see by our response, we must have a lot more. The press is hoping to keep it low key and under‑reported figuring in time we will dissipate. We will not, by God's grace. The Governor is hiding, we hope to flush him out soon.

This is how creationism works: not throught the discussion of (ALL) the relevant facts, but through political/public pressure. I put in a link to the TalkOrigins people in my "comments" section of the petition with a statement to look and see who's REALLY hiding the facts. If the educators can see that it's the creationists who're hiding the facts, then maybe they can beat them. (maybe I should have sent them the above quote from the creationists website to show how motivated they are, not by "academic freedom" but by their religion only. Those guys also have a section on their site where they say:
quote:
7. CreationDigest is non-sectarian; is not financially supported by any religious organization; but endorses the Christian, creation model of life's origin on Planet Earth and will not knowingly advocate, publish or promote any worldview of origins based on unproven speculation or conjecture that rejects intelligent design created by a Master Designer.
, from: http://www.creationequation.com/Opinions_writetheeditor.htm

What I suggest is this: everyone who signs the petition should leave a link, or a quote in the "comments" section so that those reading it can get more information about just how and where the creationists are wrong, and how close-minded THEY are to other points of view. Just saying "creationism is bad" will NOT cut it.

Signature #3509 THANK YOU says the following:

quote:

The Ohio State Board of Education Standards Committee REJECTED Intelligent Design as appropriate for the Ohio biology K-12 public school curriculum last week. And we know they did the right thing, partly because of pressure from intellgent and educated citizens like yourselves.

Is this legit or the work of a fundy?

Proponents of intelligent design applauded the board for listening to public comment and hailed the change as a victory for academic freedom.

So it appears that the truth of science does depend on who believes it. Voting is a legitimate scientific method.
