Oh, it can't be as bad as that!

But history tells us that it certainly can....
A radical political organization has just finished writing their platform. Here are some of the major positions they adopted:

They declare that “America is a nation under God founded on Judeo-Christian principles” and that the party is pledged “toward dispelling the myth of separation of church and state.”[P-18]

They support school subjects with emphasis on the Judeo-Christian principles upon which America was founded. [P-17]

The party platform calls for revising the federal tax code to sweep away limits on politicking by clergy and houses of worship. [P-9]

The party also calls for legislation permitting student-sponsored prayer in public schools and seeks to end what it calls “censorship of discussion of religion in our founding documents.” [P-17]

They "oppose any governmental action to restrict, prohibit, or remove public display of the Decalogue (Ten Commandments) or other religious symbols.” [P-11]

And "they call for less oversight and regulation of faith-based providers of social services. [P-18]

They would undermine the teaching of evolution in science classes by promoting “intelligent design”/creationism and the so-called “weaknesses” of theories such as evolution. [P-17] They do not acknowledge that evolution is the foundation of all the biological sciences and that scientists have repeatedly debunked arguments about so-called “weaknesses” of the theory.

And who pray, is this radicle organization of wannabe Torquemadas? Well, it won't come as much of a suprise, so take a guess.

I have advocated giving Texas back to Mexico, at gun point if the Mexicans balk at it, but, rather liking the Mexicans and wishing them no ill, I've changed my mind. Let's instead turn it into a giant ghetto. If these ignorant pigfuckers want a theocratcy, let 'em have one.

You did not mention the last two paragraphs:

Government would strip women of their right to make decisions regarding their reproductive health. Abortion services, with no exceptions, would be criminalized. Even access to various forms of contraception would be barred or restricted. In addition, the government would make it harder for women to divorce and escape abusive relationships.

Legalized discrimination against gay and lesbian Texans would escalate. Government would be empowered to imprison and/or fine adults who engage in even private, consensual sexual intimacy with other adults of the same gender. Moreover, the government would not just bar adoption by gay and lesbian parents. It would also strip them of any right to custody of their own children and would restrict visitation rights.

Not exactly surprising but still wholly hateful and difficult to defend.

Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.

I didn't mention those paregraphe in order to save the best 'till last and let you open the link for them.

"The sweetest meat is that which you make for yourself."

The Republican convention is going to be an interesting one as the rabid Jesus freaks try (again) to take over the national party. One hopes that they succeed and the whole shitaree impoldes, as it must if anything like this insane, 14th century, Texas platform is adopted.

Caught a rumor that Jukebox John (he changes his tune every four minutes) might pick Leiberman for his VP in order to capture Democratic votes. HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Oh... I am contrite if I spoiled the surprise for the others...

From a purely cynical point of view; I'd expect (hope) that most Americans would be turned off by such rabid extremism.

That might lead to some clash within the party as McCain flip-flop repetitively to try to pander to both electorate.

Might eventually be useful for Obama.
