I'm not hunting surreal eggs this year and sadly, I don't have the traditional bunny for dinner. Should'a shot a few last fall but didn't. However, I do have some chicken wings and plan to make my famous 'Abandon All Hope' hot wings. I will get to eat them all because no one else around here can take the heat.

Do enjoy the holiday!

The dead (apocalyptic first century rabbis) are walking! The dead (apocalyptic first century rabbis) are walking!

Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.
Carl Sagan - 1996

Normally I pig out on all sorts of chocolates, I start on the bunnies by biting their faces off. But not this year. I gave up coffee 9 weeks ago, and my irritable bowel syndrome has almost gone. Any bad attacks since then I have been able to tie in to whatever I have eaten, and one of those things is chocolate. I hear that it is similar in chemistry to coffee, if so then the connection is obvious.

People have suggested that I might also get further relief by giving up alcoholic beverages. All I can say to that is, from my cold, dead hands...

I celebrated the holiday by hiking 10 miles at South Mountains state park.

Don't think I could eat the wings either I gave up eating food that hurt a very long time ago. You just shouldn't be able to tell where last nights meal is in your colon.

I have a similar experience too with coffee.

Also, when I was stuffing myself full of Tenoxicam (an NSAID) I experienced less symptoms. But I got a bleeding ulcer from that instead... So much for the free lunch.

Have you been tested for Celiac Sprue? Had the same problems also lactose intolerance and acid reflux. Those are all gone now with a proper diagnosis and I can enjoy properly gluten free chocolate and coffee.

Oh, and per WHO but not NIH distillation breaks down the gluten protein. WHO has dealt with Celiac longer than NIH. Guess I'll take WHO advise - scotch doesn't seem to bother me at all.

I've been tested for just about everything but Klingon Augment Virus and Rigelian fever. I still get the occasional attack, but they no longer have the associated incredibly painful stomach cramping and I can usually hold out for quite a while until I can find a toilet. This is almost heaven for me.

Heaven for me was finding out about going gluten free. I understand the difficulties. Maybe Canada does test for Celiac as a regular test. But the test for Celiac is only now becoming a common test when involving gastrointestinal difficulties.

No coffee doesn't have gluten in it. But some chocolates may - they may flour the trays/papers they pour the chocolate onto so it doesn't stick.

So, it's the tannin in the coffe that the body reacts badly to?

By the way, the only easter eggs I eat are the chocolate-kind. I gag from the mere smell of a hard-boiled egg of poultry.
