What a wonderfully joyous theme song! Thanks for the memories. That was a movie us kids (I was about twelve) absolutely loved. I remember seeing it at the Grove Theater in Lemon Grove, California. The Grove had wonderful 25 cent Kiddie Matinées each Saturday. With all the fleas you could feed.

Yeah. One of my favorite 50's sci-fi/horror movies. And I have the theme song on my Ipod. It's actually longer than the version in the link. I have the version that was released as a single.

I like the poster, by the way...

Mystery solved; it's the rotting carcass of a giant space whale, quite possibly the one mentioned in The Hitchhiker's guide. The smaller blobs are the spattered results of when the whale hit the highway.

At least, in your link, they hadn't identified that blob as being a dead Plesiosaur.
