I graduated from Skepticism 101 a long time ago; let me know if you need a tutor for these more advanced techniques.
So let me get this straight.... your experience with other "skeptic" sites leaves you hopeful that we are open minded, unlike all those other places you have experienced being banned from.

That interesting bit of irony, combined with your obvious arrogance, is rather amusing.
Did you miss the "for me" part? Obviously, theybannedme is working from a personal definition of "skepticism," and we've only been treated to one of its entailments. Perhaps if we knew the whole definition, it would be less ironic.

I am skeptical, of course, but I'm going to withhold other snarky remarks until I see more evidence.

Oh, just haven't been to the site in a while but started lurking again the past couple of weeks.

SFN's activity seems to have gone down from what I remember.

What I'm beginning to think has happened is that our friend banned has been visiting those wussy forums where serious contention is not allowed. Get a little rough and you get tossed. Perhaps he thought SFN is more of the same.

It's a form of moderator protection that doesn't exist in here, where we are expected to take care of ourselves. When he realized that we were more than willing to get down and dirty with him, and lacking that protection, he decided that this was not his bag.

Me, I hope he comes back. It's been slow around here, lately.

I'm curious... I've never heard of closed-minded skeptic communities. Would you care to tell us which sites you were banned from?

Hmmm, yes. Isn't that one of those websites where on-line cops prowl in order to bust slavering idiots trolling for children?

No. According to the commercials it's for people who just want to "hook up".

I think you are thinking of Facebook, Myspace, and Craigslist.

I guess it was some sort of game that we never got around to understand the rules of nor probably did good fodder for...

I confess, I don't know much about that sort of thing nor want to. "Bootycall" seems a lot more suggestive than the others, though. It seems to me that an enterprising pimp could get a pretty good business going there.

Am I the only one who's noticed that this thread has an unwarranted number of hits -- some 600 at this writing? What gives?

So just for the hell of it, I ran a google. banned has been busy. I didn't open any of the links, but it might be amusing.

As far as I could see, casimir did not specify a preference for female partners for getting laid. However, Valiant Dancer's assumption that that's what casimir meant seems likely to be correct, on a statistical basis.

Which raises (for me) a question: how are "heuristics" and "assumptions" related?

It seems that heuristics involve assumptions. Yet they're not quite the same thing, are they? (not a rhetorical question)

Interestingly, there have been no discussions of theybannnedme and/or any cohorts in the Secret Moderator Hideaway. I think this is significant in itself, showing that the experiences of the Administrators of SFN (and to a lesser extent the Moderators like myself) have led them to no sense of concern, much less panic, over this situation.

I possess no insider info, or IP data. My personal guess is that there is a group of people centered around Theybannedme.com who are competitive in trying to see how many sites they can get themselves banned from, while also competing to get banned for the most minor possible reasons.

This seems quite a bit silly to me, but different strokes. I don't see this behavior, thus far, as being any threat to SFN. It's only a kind of relatively benign sort of trolling. Compared to the malicious trolls we've seen, it's nothing.

I'd agree with you HM.
Sould this new sport be named competitive freestyle trolling?
