Given all the debate about the future of your health care down there, you might want to be ready for those who say that we're all dying of poverty in hospital line-ups up here. Read this link a friend sent me

Working link

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

Are the hospitals in Canada the big igloos with the red-and-white cross design painted on them?

Only in the Arctic. Around here you can tell them by the moose-drawn ambulances outside.

That doesn't seem a bad system, though if it is implemented here, there should probably be considerable attention given to making sure that facilities and personnel for caring for the increased patient care load is provided for. The millions of Americans who probably now silently die because of poverty and lack of insurance will be an extra burden on facilities and caregivers.
