It's too much for me to even describe, so I'll just link to it.

How crazy is Glenn Beck? His latest loopy conspiracy theory is that the levees in New Orleans were allowed to fail intentionally to destroy records of evil deeds by ACORN and SEIU. And it's all tied to Van Jones in this weird little scenario of madness he's spun. This is breathtaking in its utter stupidity.

What brought that on? this. Original posting here.

Another example of this guy's lunacy here.

Yeah, I read about that yesterday. I gotta hand it to Beck; he makes a damned good living from the chronically stupid. They like him because they are him.

Filthy, you're dead on about Beck. And your words apply equally well to Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Reilly, Ingraham, and Coulter. Were it not for the fringe lunatics of the GOP electorate, all of these actor/clowns would be out of work.

Mooner, I think you're wrong about Beck. I think he's a damn smart manipulator-comedian, just like Limbaugh. They both make fortunes by entertaining and stimulating terminally stupid conservatives who need constant reinforcement of their Messianic religious faith in their latter day Saviours such as Rush and Glenn Beck. Beck puts on a really convincing "insane" act (as does Limbaugh and Coulter), but his nut case audience eats it up because they see themselves in him. It's the insane leading the insane!

Beck has lost >50% of his advertising money. Something like 70 companies that advertise on FNN have pulled ads from his program.

That is pretty fucking far from smart bng.

Wow Glenn Predited the New Orleans disaster due to a hurricane. Is Glenn just making shit up? I can find plenty of links reporting Glens comments about the survivors after the fact, but nothing about Glenn predicting New Orleans was the most dangerous city in America. Well 30 minutes is long enough. Possible that I need better google skills.

It's a little uncertain yet how valid the loss of revenue or number of companies cancelling really is:

From Media Bistro
A PR firm representing the group Color of Change sent out a press release today touting the boycott of Fox News' Glenn Beck with headlines reading, "Ad Boycott Costs Glenn Beck Over 50% of Ad Dollars" and "62 Companies Refusing to Advertise with Beck Cost Fox Nearly $600k Per Week." The press release uses "data analyzed from industry sources" to arrive at the numbers.
We all know Fox News lies routinely. Their comment:
"The Color of Change figures are wildly inaccurate on all fronts -- revenue has not been affected in any way."
But I suspect that there may be some truth in that comment.
Take a look at the ratings for Friday September 11:

Beck is a 603 Nielson compared to CNN's Blitzer at 140 and MSNBC's Matthews at 151 - all at the same 5PM EST time slot. Beck beats Olbermann's 329 at 8PM. His 603 rating beats everyone on evening cable except O'Reilly and Hannity. Fox absolutely wipes out CNN and MSNBC combined. Friday's ratings are archetypal for any weekday cable ratings. Personally, I wish Fox News would go broke tommorrow. But I don't think that's gonna happen!

My guess is that whatever Beck loses in sponsorship will be quickly replaced as millions of conservative crazies continue to flock to his show and get their "mews" from him. His craziness is carefully contrived to appeal to the "I only watch Fox News", brain dead Republican hard core "base". It works. Ratings always mean dollars!

That wasn't me, that was Dude. I'm unsure of the advertising dollars, if any, lost by Beck.

Well, now we're even. I'm not Dave and you're not Dude! Ain't senescence wonderful?

I have started wearing my old Army dogtags so I can quickly check on who I am when the situation demands. I was back home, firmly in bed and sound asleep the other day when my next door neighbor woke me up and told me to go home!
