The U.S. Chamber of Commerce describes itself as an advocacy group with more than 3 million hundred thousand members. It also has denied that global warming exists. That is, until today, when spokesman Hingo Sempra announced at a National Press Club news conference the Chamber is supporting climate change legislation.
That's got to be a joke, right?
Well, actually, it is. It was a hoax pulled off by the political pranksters the Yes Men on Monday. Several media sources reported this hoax as fact, and more might have done the same if Eric Wohlschlegel, the real C of C spokesman, hadn't stopped the press conference several minutes into the Q & A.
