The New York Times has an interesting story about creationism and Islam.

The cruz of the story is that some (many?) Muslims appear to fall in the old-earth creationist camp (as opposed to the YEC side).

I find this sort of information interesting:
In a survey of 2,527 Pakistani high school students conducted by the McGill researchers and their international collaborators, 28 percent of the students agreed with the creationist sentiment, “Evolution is not a well-accepted scientific fact.” More than 60 percent disagreed, and the rest were not sure.

Eighty-six percent agreed with this statement: 'Millions of fossils show that life has existed for billions of years and changed over time.'
I'm not sure, but would the US get such high numbers?!?

I think those high schoolers are being educated well, probably above the level of many American high school students.

But there's an inherent selection bias at work, too. Pakistani high school students probably exclude all those of the same age who are sitting, bobbing their heads hour after hour in madrasahs muttering Arabic verses from the Koran.
