Our old friend David Mabus has gone on to bigger and worser things. He now has PZ mildly irked at him. As he really doesn't rate much more than a mild irking, PZ is simply running his shit through the filters and tossing it rather than threatening the dread Biologist's Revenge.

It seems there's something to do with GOATS ON FIRE..... I don't know what it means, either.
GOATS ON FIRE!

Kooks are like stray cats: give them a little bit of attention, and they end up following you everywhere, making annoying squalling noises and clawing at your door. A perfect example is David Mabus aka Dennis Markuze aka That Insane Prat, who, now that registration is a barrier to posting his little kook-droppings here, has taken to trying to flood my mailbox. Ha ha, the laugh is on him, my mailbox is already flooded! Also, I've got filters up the wazoo there, anyway.

There a whole lot of skeptics (and the entire faculty of the University of Minnesota Morris, too, who have marveled and laughed at is output) who have been getting these lunatic emails, but I just filter them and delete them. However, Rebecca Watson has pointed out one felicitous random phrase from his recent eruption: GOATS ON FIRE! It's just sitting there. I have no idea what he's talking about. But it does seem to me to be a useful term for flagging weird stuff, so I've added it to my email filters to highlight any comments that use the phrase. It'll be handy for bringing the crazy to my attention…as long as you don't abuse it.

Gotta give our DM credit though; he's tenacious.

You know, it's usually a joke when we say this. But given the periods that this clown is not active, some of which are months long, I am starting to think that he really does go off his meds from time to time.

Uncertainty may make you uncomfortable. Certainty makes you ridiculous.

Goats On Fire would be a great name for a rock-n-roll band and/or album title.

clown? Kent Hovind and Sylvia Brown are clowns and all their fans fooled followers are, very big clowns. I haven't read enough of what he wrote that would make me say that. PZ seems to have. Goats of fire does sound pretty funny considering that goats usually just eat their grass and have no thumbs to use their lighters with.
I know communicating over the web is a mine field where any comment can be wrongly interpreted. It's happened to me. Dr M. does live in Sweden and only he knows what "goats on fire" he was referring to. Maybe he invited PZ to join in burning a goat during their "Goats of fire festival" as his guest this year. That could have happened but I have no evidence. I did find this,,,, http://www.fusion.com.au/Blog/archive/2009/12/03/Surprise03.aspx

I want to point out that the mad Dennis ("David Mabus") Markuze isn't our Dr. Mabuse. Markuze is an unclassifiable madman and a Canadian. Dr. Mabuse is a skeptic and a Swede.

You have the wrong Mabus(e) as Mooner has pointed out.

Markuze has been spamming this site and Skepticality, as well as every other skeptic site for years now. He is well known. He has accused Randi of cheating him out of his prize, (one for which he never entered) and has made physical threats against several people, most notably, Richard Dawkins and Randi himself.

Many of us get his emails and they are full of rants about Nostradamus, how we atheists will get what we have coming, and so on. I was being generous when I called him a clown. I'm quite sure he is certifiable.

Let's hunt him down and chop his fingers off! If he has to do his typing with his tongue, it ought to slow him down considerably. Indeed, his psychotic episode might be over before he gets halfway through his first Nost....

Is that what the military was hoping would happen in Jon Ronson's book "The Men Who Stare At Goats"?

GOATS ON FIRE! You know, those three unrelated words had a certain ring when I first read them, but I couldn't quite place it.

It had been troubling me all day off and on, not particularly because I am unduly concerned with cruelty to animals (as I am!), but simply that I had recently run into a similar unusual combination of words, probably involving goats, but I couldn't for the life of me remember the phrase.

Then it came to me! Hollywood had anticipated David Mabus' thinking to some degree and had come up with a movie with an even more unfathomable title; Men Who Stare at Goats

I haven't seen this cinematic phenomenon but I did read a review or two - apparently it has to do with some of the more outré behavior of own beloved CIA.

It wasn't clear from the reviews whether the CIA's purpose of having their men spend considerable time staring at goats was to ignite the animals into some sort of animated wildlife bonfire (as Mooner has so graciously helped us to visualize, above); or if the end result of the staring was to intimidate the goats into less Goatish behavior, perhaps to make then sheepish about being so goaty.

One critic implied that the actual intent was to kill the goats, not indicating the actual form that the psychic dispatch was to take. So goat immolation seems a distinct possibility, and there may be, in fact, a connection between Mabus' obscure reference to incendiary Capra and top secret activities of our professional spook corps as visualized by Hollywood.

Mabus is obviously a nutter, and it's pretty obvious that our Intelligence Agencies are populated by a pretty similar breed including Dick Cheney, as goatish an individual as I can imagine.
Staring at goats to set them on fire makes just about as much sense as drowning men to get them to talk!

For every post he makes at Skepticality, I make a note of his IP-number and drop a mail to his ISP.
If enough moderators and admins start doing that, sooner rather than later, no ISP in the Montreal-area will want to have him as customer.

Several IP-ranges in Montreal are blocked from Skepticality because of his antics.

DOH!

For those who might not know, I started using "Dr. Mabuse" online in 1999 when WechWarrior 3 came out. Then I registered at Skeptic Friends Network, which was in February 2003. A whole year and some before Markuze made his Blogspot Nostradamus-USA page. From there, it looks like it took two more years before he started spamming SFN and Skepticality (and other skeptic- and atheist boards).

It wasn't until after he ran into Dave_W. he started using David (at least as far as I know).
