Now, this is way cool. Great video too. Octopus forethought uses discarded coconut shells for protection when needed...

Octopi are some of the most marvelous creatures on earth. They are right at the top of my favorites list, crowding rattlesnakes for #1 position. And they are very tasty!

Neat videos; thanks!

Very cool!!!!

Uncertainty may make you uncomfortable. Certainty makes you ridiculous.

Why not question something for a change?

Hey, who died and made them sapient?

Consider: Each octopus that comes up with something clever like this apparently does it by individual invention. They are solitary creatures, and have no culture. If there is ever a social species of octopus, we are doomed. Doomed, I tell ya!

Ha! Reminds me of this Onion article on Dolphins evolving an opposable thumb.

Ha! Reminds me of this Onion article on Dolphins evolving an opposable thumb.
That was a masterpiece, even by Onion standards:
"I believe I speak for the entire human race when I say, 'Holy fuck,'" said Oceanographic Institute director Dr. James Aoki, noting that the dolphin has a cranial capacity 40 percent greater than that of humans. "That's it for us monkeys."
