Ask your doctor if it's all right to use most new drugs is what we hear over and over again, but never do we hear or read about the doctor's side
of it. Is he glad the patient is taking more interest or does he just harrump and not answer...

That's an interesting question, remembering that the drug companies often actively solicit doctors to prescribe their version of some particular nostrum.

I am appalled at the advertising I see for medicines on tv. First they say how wonderful the goofball is, then, and thank the gods for the disclosure laws, they list all these dreadful side effects that could make you into a deformed zombie, or worse. These are often closely followed by some lawyer shilling for malpractice business. 'Tis a tangled web woven by a drunken spider.

Having never asked a doc about a tv medication, I dunno. I would think that they would shift into their bedside manner gear and give you an honest answer, depending....

They probably get asked a lot and are used to it.

I doubt most GP know very much about the new drugs they are prescribing. it all gets filtered down to them and they dish it out as need be.
