Incredible the count of moons in our little Solar System.
Each moon has its own unique history. Just a thought...the moons maybe amount to be a lot of passing asteroids captured by planetary gravity.

Moon mystery investigation:

Yeah, I know. it's a little crass but it makes as much sense as anything cantbe's come up with thus far. Besides, I'm feeling especally bloody-minded this morning.

Learn something from whom? At this point, you have yet to offer anything of any value whatsoever. I could get better information from a bait bucket.

When are you going to answer the questions put to you? Ever?

Lunar libration...

Very cool Randy, thanks. What's with the moon's motion? It's called libration? Like me with to much libation. I'd expect the moon to get closer and further, as it's orbit is elliptical about the earth. It appears that it's perigee, it's closest point, occurred at the full moon. This happens rarely because both are cyclic and not in phase, due to them having different lengths or periods.

More proof of no God for me. If there exists a perfect, all knowing "He/She/It" as theist preach. Placement of the moon wouldn't have been so sloppy or the people being created wouldn't be screwed up. Very sloppy work. If I'm going to worship a God, I'm waiting for a better one. One more perfect, loving, more just, less cruel etc.. One really deserving of my worship, one that can do better than this.

Anyway, very cool clip indeed. SS

Again, a bit more from wiki on 'lunar libration'...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libration

Yeah, the 'no-evidence-fo-god' type deal is all over the muther-humpin' place.

Actually I don't see lunar libration as sloppy work, just basic natural laws of motion at work here.

SS, so you're looking for a "more perfect, loving...etc god?
How about trying out the Flying Spaghetti Monster (Pastafarianism)....

“With millions, if not thousands, of devout worshippers, the Church of the FSM is widely considered a legitimate religion, even by its opponents—mostly fundamentalist Christians, who have accepted that our God has larger balls than theirs. ”

—Bobby Henderson, "prophet of the Flying Spaghetti Monster"

Why haven't you sent that fax? >>

Decided not to. It might mean the exposure of your true beliefs, idealistic conformity, and conformity is a no no in a skeptic environment.

cantbe323, you have not sent the fax in order to protect pleco from the disapprobation of the rest of us? How thoughtful of you!

"MOON, slow rising, over the trembling sea-rim,
Moon of the lifted tides and their folded burden,
Look, look down; and gather the blinded oceans,
Moon of compassion.

Come, white Silence, over the one sea pathway:
Pour with hallowing hands on the surge and outcry,
Silver flame; and over the famished blackness,
Petals of moonlight.

Once again, the formless void of a world-wreck
Gropes its way through the echoing dark of chaos;
Tide on tide, to the calling, lost horizons,
One in the darkness.

You that veil the light of the all-beholding,
Shed your tidings down to the dooms of longing,
Down to the timeless dark; and the sunken treasure,
One in the darkness.

Touch, and harken--under the shrouding silver,--
Rise and fall of the heart of the sea and its legions
All and one; -- one with the breath of the deathless,
Rising and falling.

Touch and waken, so, to a far hereafter,
Ebb and flow, the deep, and the dead in their longing:
Till at last, on the hungering face of the waters,
There shall be light."
~~ Josephine Preston Peabody

Well, as flounce outs go, at least it's original.
