But, alas, I am still a nut-case.

I don't mean that all Ayn Rand fans become unhinged idiots. But it does seem to increase the odds.

You may be confusing cause and effect: it could be that unhinged idiots are attracted to Ayn Rand.

I have never read Ayn Rand, therefore, whilst I might be a bit unhinged, I am not an idiot. At least not constantly, anyway...

I took no offense, trust me. I was your typical "I've got it all figured out at the age of 15" punk. IMO, Ayn encourages the "I know all the answers, so don't even try to change my mind" mindset, which teenage boys eat up.

I bet Rudolfo is just jumping up and down pulling his hair out at our lack of response to his raving.

We are all 30 minutes from annihilation......so what's new? As was mentioned earlier....we've all known this since elementary school.

Just what exactly would you like us to do about it?

I would rather face a cold reality than delude myself with comforting fantasies.

You are free to believe what you want to believe and I am free to ridicule you for it.

Actually, what I was referring to is that we've all known since childhood that government isn't 100% transparent. We choose representatives to make decisions on our behalf (so that we need not learn every angle of every issue) and those representatives aren't obligated to disclose every ugly aspect of the decision-making process, only their final choices (good representatives will explain why they made that choice, but they still won't offer up every minute detail).

While this system (a part of every government that's ever existed, really) might allow for back-room conspiracies, that doesn't mean that such conspiracies necessarily drive the entire decision-making process, as Rudolfo would have us infer. Note that he still won't state his position clearly, he makes us guess what it is. He's too cowardly to actually assert his position as a logically constructed argument from premises to conclusion.

I probably should read Ayn Rand at some point. Although from what I've heard, the books actually aren't that good.

Don't waste your time, seriously. I tried re-reading Atlas Shrugged some 15 years ago when I was much more right-leaning than I am now, and even then, I had to stop, it was so bad.

So I am told. Problem is, statements like these make me curious and make me want to read the thing even more.

It's the same reason why I have a collection of pseudoscientific books scavenged from the local second-hand book stores. A collection started when I first got in contact with pseudo-science by reading the Erich von Daniken books (aaah, memories). Given that there is a relatively large population that find them interesting, I just have to know what's in them.

Yes, and yet you have absolutely no understanding of why. Not that you are unique in that regard.

Consider my day, and 3 incredible displays of stupidity .... from the bottom ...

1. In the Dr's office for a checkup ... the View on the tube with Boobus Americanas there representing the Tea Partiers. What do they want ... 'fiscal responsibility and free enterprise', and 'we don't do social issues'.... this woman was so stupid I actually had to put my fingers in my ears, luckily I was in the back row. I mean Goldman Sachs has Barry saying .... 'we need fiscal responsibility' so can go after SS and Medicare, and here are the tea partiers saying exactly the same thing. Then, believe it or not, they started discussing the term 'tea baggers' .... OK, it was funny but in a cringing way .... There is no underestimating the American voter ...

2. (Note: the following paragraph is classified and may only be read with proper clearance and in possession of a secret code ring) Dave W. maintaining his tcefrep record with his stmemmoc on transparency .... Dave, you are the gnik of diputs here, which does put you daeh and shoulders above tsom of the posters who lack the coherence or purposefulness to achieve ytidiputs. I really can't tnemmoc further on your kcolb headed observations.

3. Here is the more interesting case ... Chalmers Johnson, a Berkeley Far East heavyweight ... the guy who first wrote about blowback ....has an interesting interview here ...

http://counterpunch.com/

Johnson is a world renowned expert on Far East relations, and he has become a vocal critic of US policies, and nobody knows more about the FE than him. He recounts how he became aware that the people who the US was killing sometimes didn't appreciate being killed. Really, it was a revelation to him. How they resent our 750 military bases spread all over the world. Etc., and how, believe it or not, they can try to strike back, resulting in 'blowback'. Actually Johnson didn't figure this out for himself, he read about it in a CIA documents.

OK, so why is Johnson a knucklehead? Because he's looking from the ground up .... he doesn't understand anything about what why the US is all over the world, he doesn't understand the economic forces that they are serving, he doesn't have a clue as to the decision processes that put them there ...

Looking at the problem from the ground up Johnson knows everything, looking top down he knows what we know, absolutely nothing.

Well, that's the thing. First we need to understand it from the top down. That takes us right to the WW II narrative. And there's the problem, the standard WW I and WW II narratives are fairy tales. Unfortunately, I'm not a historian, never liked history, and as a consequence am ignorant as hell about the whole subject. Which isn't so bad, but I don't seem to have the familiarity with or facility for the subject that makes learning easy .... so... it's a tough nut for me....

But, I think it's necessary to first understand world industry and finance from the mid 1800's on ... that's the starting point ...

Ummm... OK. Utterly incoherent ramblings, but so be it...

Rule 1. All of it.

And still, you haven't answered a single question asked of you. Why is it stupid to ask simple and logical questions, and then wait for their answers?

No, you won't comment on them because you don't have a case and you know it, so you resort to insults and childish games.

Warning Official Warning Warning

We banned dantheman for insulting the admins. I don't see any reason to not extend that "policy" to you, since you stopped talking about anything substantive long ago. You have had plenty of time to make a well-supported case for some position, and you've failed at every opportunity, so it's not like you can complain that this is just to shut you up. This is your first warning. You can have one more.

Hell Dave, he's insulted everyone on the boards. Me, I don't care beyond his failing to come up with something I haven't seen/heard before, and being tedious.

I was hoping he would bring up the Roosevelt/Rothschild/Freemason/Illuminati connection, but perhaps he hasn't heard that one yet.

I know, but you regular members insult each other so much I'd have to ban the lot of you if I were to implement a "don't insult other members" policy. I kid, of course.
I was hoping he would bring up the Roosevelt/Rothschild/Freemason/Illuminati connection, but perhaps he hasn't heard that one yet.
It wouldn't matter. He'd just be tedious about them, saying something like, "the Illuminati exist, therefore you're a bonehead."

Look at his latest post. Some guy is a knucklehead for looking at things the wrong way, because Rudolfo just knows it's the wrong way, and he backs this up with an admission of a complete ignorance of the field of history. He's basically said, "I know nothing about history, but you're an idiot if you don't look at history like I think you should." This is a classic expression of the arrogance of ignorance, and Rudolfo is so ignorant that his arrogance has skyrocketed.

I like clowns. I just prefer for them to be at the circus instead of in my forums.
