How about that unfenced area at the end of the tape, just to the right, hmmm?

Of course it's explainable.

It's difficult to clearly see everything that's going on with the low light, road dust, and shaky camera, and that may in turn limit our ability to select the most plausible explanation. But we can certainly think of several possible explanations. When the cop stops at the "intact" fence, I see a metal post sticking up just right of center, chain link fencing covering the panel to the left of the pole, and nothing to the right of the pole. So it looks like a pretty big gap there to the left. But like I said, it could be a trick of the lights. It's hard to see.

But the fence is definitely swaying pretty hard by the time the copper arrives at it. So the "ghost car" either clipped the fence as he drove around it, or if the fence was unattached at the bottom he could have driven through/under it with the chain link falling back into place after he was past.

Any answers to this "mystery" would have been uncovered when the policeman actually got out of his car and investigated on foot. After he studied the tire tracks and examined the fence itself, I bet he had a pretty good idea how the suspect managed to get away. Eh, but that wouldn't make compelling television. The public loves mysteries, not solutions. And the policeman would probably rather have people whispering about a "ghost car" than about how he let an erratic drunk out-drive him and escape.

Even more good possibilities listed in the Mythbusters forums.

Anyway, point being, nothing in this video is "unexplainable."

Oh, don't be such scientists. Look at it with the eyes of an engineer. You know that driver had to be praying very hard for help. Who wouldn't start praying. Clearly a time to test the almighty power of prayer.

Heh. If the driver had driven through an allegedly solid wall of chain link fence, proven by investigation, that would have been part a the part of the description of what happened to add to the mystery. But there was nothing of the kind in the video. Did the cops just call it in and go home? I doubt it. What's missing is the subsequent investigation. You know, the part that would have demystified the mystery.

Uncertainty may make you uncomfortable. Certainty makes you ridiculous.

The narration is full of dramatic mumbo-jumbo. First, during the chase, the announcer says the car seemingly vanishes but we actually continue to see it pulling away, all the way through the video. The narration also uses other adjectives to enhance the "mysterious" atmosphere though whats being seen is a blurry nighttime police camera picture of a mundane car chase. The car does not behave supernaturally but accelerates rapidly going in and out of control from an unskilled driver. Then, when it comes to the fence, the fence appears to be unfastened at the bottom and car quickly slides right through, rapidly lifting the fence which snaps back in place. That may not have been what happened but that's what it looks like. I think Occam's Razor cut the fence at the bottom. The driver might have even known about that getaway spot ahead of time.

Diversity, independence, innovation and imagination are progressive concepts ultimately alien to the conservative mind.

The fence lifts up. I've seen it on other police videos.

Coincidentally, I just saw a clip on America's Funniest Videos in which a woman on an inner tube slides down a snowy hill and goes right under a chain-link fence. The bottom lifted up when she hit it, and fell back down as soon as she was clear, but it was so fast that it would have been hard to tell had they not offered a slo-mo reply.

lol.....that wasn't even good, let alone unexplainable.
