It really doesn't get much dumber than this. Well, I suppose that it might, and if it does, FOX will be in the forefront of the charge over the cretin cliff.
CNN mocks Fox News for relying on ‘Bat Boy’ paper as source

Weekly World News continues to stand by its original report

When Fox News fell for a tabloid story claiming that the City of Los Angeles was about to spend a billion dollars on jetpacks for its police and fire departments, not even CNN could resist making bad puns at their expense.

"This is the story of a news story that took off," CNN's Jeanne Moos began. "A story that got off the ground. Even though it was made up out of thin air. The joke's on FOX News, reporting on the Martin jet pack -- which does exist."

"The City of Los Angeles already ordered 10,000 jetpacks for its police, paramedics, and fire departments," Gretchen Carlson had gushed on Tuesday morning's Fox & Friends. "I'm all for buying stuff up to help the capitalism and all that, but states, do they have "$100,000 [per pack]?"

According to Gawker, however, the story originated with the Weekly World News, the supermarket tabloid best known for spinning fantasies about "Bat Boy" and space aliens
I have long held a suspicion that FOX uses a crack team of autistic mynahs for fact-checkers and that suspicion is another step closer to confirmation.

This fact-checker closely resembles the talking heads that appear on FOX regularly. Remarkable, no?

I am ashamed of you filthy, you shouldn't be insulting mynahs by dragging them down to that level.

Years back, I had a girlfriend who kept a mynah and so have a little experience. All that wretched thing did was eat, shit and squawk -- exactly like FOX. True, FOX is a step down from eat-shit-squawk mynahs, but not quite a large enough one to invalidate the comparison. Both are tooth-grindingly obnoxious in their unnecessary noise as well as their lackadasical bathroom habits. Both all over everything within range of their fluffy, little cloacas. And both waste far more consumables than is warranted by their dubious positions in the natural order of the cosmos.

But there is a way out of this for the mynahs -- what if FOX knew perfectly well that their source was a load of comic, WWN crap but, having faith in their audience's stupidity, went with it anyway? That would make them even fouler organisms than a whole truckload of mynahs.
