Last weekend my mother was in town. She and I spent Saturday together. I carted her around town to get her groceries and art supplies. We also made a stop at the book store. Now I don't really get to the book store much any more seeing as I order most of my books online or download them to my e-reader so it's been a couple of years since I have been there. I noticed something very disturbing.

I walked up to one of those computer thingies to type in the name of the book I was looking for, " The Demon Haunted World by Carl Sagan". The computer thingy came up with a nice map of the store and the exact section (the Science section) where my book could be found. Great!

I found my book quite easily. This is what disturbed me. I noticed that the "science" section that I was in consisted of merely one book shelf. I looked to the left where I noticed rows and rows of bookshelves labeled "New Age". You could learn all about the healing powers of crystals and the magic that is Feng Shui along with other nonsense. I look to my right and I see even more and more rows of books labeled "Religion" and "Christianity" which seemed unending.

It scares me that the book store had only one bookshelf with actual science related material. It scared me even more when I noticed a book titled " The Science Of God" in the science section.

Wassup wit dat?

Haole with heart, thats all I'll ever be. I'm not a part of the North Shore society. Stuck on the shoulder, that's where you'll find me. Digging for scraps with the kooks in line. -Offspring

It's disturbing, isn't it? But yeah. Bullshit sells and there are more of them than there are of us.

What I find even more disturbing is when I find a book like Communion: A True Story in the non-fiction section of the book store.

Uncertainty may make you uncomfortable. Certainty makes you ridiculous.

Why not question something for a change?
