Heh. You people are going to love Vox Day's take on this.
Wow. In the very first paragraph:
I tend to think it's a little strange to apologize to someone for something that is possibly, though not necessarily, true without first attempting to determine if one is actually incorrect or not.
So if I were to state that Vox Day enjoys sodomizing his mother, I shouldn't feel any need to apologize unless I first went through the effort to refute my own statement.

Have at, guys. Vox Day has declared that the truth about him and his activities doesn't actually matter if you're not willing to expend the energy to find out if anything you say about him is true or not. In still other words, any protestations Vox Day might make in response to any slander or libel you might make against him are irrelevant, it's all up to you to figure out whether an apology is appropriate, and if you can't be bothered to do so... meh.

Just keep your wild speculations, allegations and innuendo in the realm of possibilities (they need not be plausible, just possible), and you'll meet Vox Day's standards for not needing to apologize.

A couple of video clips:

First, Rachel Maddow brings up a point I had missed: Republicans just don't understand how birth control works.

Second, Sandra Fluke appeared on The View and was less than impressed with Rush's apology.

1. You do get to use your free speech, which is next to unlimited.

2. You can dump on a woman you don't know by unjustifiably calling her a slut. You thus may be branded as a ranting misogynistic idiot.

3. If you do, you may be sued, and find out about the "next to" in #1.

4. You may lose money from the sponsors who pay to you to talk.

5. You may have to apologize, to try to get back some of that lost money.

6. Your apology may be widely judged as both self-serving and inadequate.

7. Your financial and emotional decline may begin.

8. You may start abusing opiates again, just to get through the days.

9. You may not be able to pay for your increasing addiction. You may be put to use by your drug dealer as a bargain-basement male street prostitute.

10. People may start to call you a slut. Ironically, they may be fully justified in doing so.

Now this from CNN:
More Limbaugh stations, advertisers jump ship

CNN Political Unit

(CNN) – A second radio station said it was dropping Rush Limbaugh's radio program Tuesday, calling the conservative host's incendiary comments last week about a law student "unacceptable."

. . .

field, Massachusetts radio station 1420 AM WBEC, one of hundreds of stations nationwide that carry "The Rush Limbaugh Show," dropped the program from its lineup, according to station general manager Peter Barry. He said the decision was made Monday, and was based upon comments Limbaugh made last week regarding Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke, "which we found unacceptable."

Outcry over Limbaugh's comments began last week after he suggested Fluke was a "slut" and a "prostitute" for advocating broad health care coverage for contraception at a hearing on Capitol Hill

Limbaugh made the original comments Wednesday, in which he also suggested Fluke wanted taxpayers to pay for her to have sex.

On Monday, KPUA, a radio station in Hilo, Hawaii announced it would no longer carry the radio program, effective immediately.

"We are strong believers in the first amendment and have recognized Mr. Limbaugh's right to express opinions that often times differ from our own, but it has never been our goal to allow our station to be used for personal attacks and intolerance. The most recent incident has crossed a line of decency and a standard that we expect of programming on KPUA," Chris Leonard, President and General Manager of New West Broadcasting said in a statement.

The stations' decisions come as advertisers continue to drop their support of Limbaugh's program.

On Monday, AOL joined 11 other companies announcing they were removing ads from "The Rush Limbaugh Show," which is the most listened to talk radio show in the United States.

"At AOL one of our core values is that we act with integrity," the company wrote in a post on their corporate Facebook page. "We have monitored the unfolding events and have determined that Mr. Limbaugh's comments are not in line with our values. As a result we have made the decision to suspend advertising on The Rush Limbaugh Radio show."

Other sponsors dropping spots from Limbaugh's show include mattress companies like Sleep Number and The Sleep Train, and companies that assist small businesses like Citrix, LegalZoom and QuickenLoans.

One company, Carbonite, a data backup service, said feedback from customers led to the decision to remove advertising from Limbaugh's show. The company's CEO said Limbaugh's apology Saturday wasn't enough to put his company's ads back on the air.

"No one with daughters the age of Sandra Fluke, and I have two, could possibly abide the insult and abuse heaped upon this courageous and well-intentioned young lady," Carbonite CEO David Friend said. "Mr. Limbaugh, with his highly personal attacks on Miss Fluke, overstepped any reasonable bounds of decency. Even though Mr. Limbaugh has now issued an apology, we have nonetheless decided to withdraw our advertising from his show. We hope that our action, along with the other advertisers who have already withdrawn their ads, will ultimately contribute to a more civilized public discourse."

. . .
It's looking more and more like a death spiral for that old tub of excrement. You know it's the end of the line for a "conservative" windbag when he starts pissing off capitalists.

Peter Gabriel weighs in on the subject:

From petergabriel.com
'Peter was appalled to learn that his music was linked to Rush Limbaugh's extraordinary attack on Sandra Flute. It is obvious from anyone that knows Peter's work that he would never approve such a use. He has asked his representatives to make sure his music is withdrawn and especially from these unfair aggressive and ignorant comments. '

Fantastic! The statement itself is a victory on that front. Whether Gabriel's music is actually banned for use by Limbaugh, I think, is far less important.

This from Hank Fox, the Blue Collar Atheist:
I’m picturing Rush Limbaugh sitting alone in a room right now, holding his fat ugly head in his hands and facing the dawning realization that the billion-dollar joy ride is over. Can’t help it — I’m smiling.

Yup. And even if it's not the same sponsors, others are probably lining up.

Dunning made one mistake though. Glenn Beck really did lose his spot on Fox because he kept losing sponsors. They didn't leave all at one time though. They just sort of drifted off, one by one.

Yeah. As much as Rupert Murdoch loves to play bullying games in politics, it really all comes down to the bottom line for Fox and his other businesses.

I see Brian Dunning's point, Rush does get his money from being offensive. The only effective method I see is hitting them financially. Can you make a show that is sensationalist and rational? Is it possible to fight fire with fire?

It could be done, but using real facts, one would be at a disadvantage versus someone who just pulls any "facts" he and his audience want out of his lard ass.

It's easier if you can invent facts as needed.

For a show to be both sensationalist and rational, would take some great research and writing. It's not that there's not loads of interesting material available, the problem is that the more interesting it is, the more people trend to already know about it. Still, Carl Sagan, Jon Stewart and others have somehow managed in their specialty fields.

So I saw on Fox News apparently they've somehow made this story about Bill Maher, and it's being repeated all day. What the hell? Argument being Bill Maher called Sarah Palin a "cunt," and therefore he's sexist and therefore the administration is being hypocritical by accepting a $1mil donation to an Obama super PAC while criticizing Limbaugh. Obviously Bill Maher's a comedian and Rush is serious, but clearly (?!) this is irrelevant. They've apparently forced Louis C.K. out of the correspondent's dinner gig.

The level of unrelated spin is astounding sometimes. They've nearly forgotten about Rush and have ceased mentioning that sponsors are pulling.

Interestingly and ironically, Bill Maher has said that he is opposed to efforts to get sponsors to pull their ads. I guess his being on their side of that particular issue isn't enough for FOX to refrain from rabidly attacking the liberal.
