I came across this article in the LA times:

http://www.latimes.com/news/science/la-sci-religion-analytical-thinking-20120427,0,5374010.story

about how thinking can undermine religion. I just skimmed through it, but thought it was interesting

That certainly gives the religious something to carefully think about, huh?

Ha, I've been seriously debating posting that article on my FB page to counteract all of the religious nonsense that my friends post. I have not yet developed the testicular fortitude to do it yet though. I tend to upset the people I like so I have been refraining from doing so lately.

Well, they will never have a (reverse) "Road to Damacus" moment unless something upsets them enough to knock them off their horse.

I did post the a link from Science Daily to the story on my facebook page. I also suggested that non-religious people not start patting themselves on their backs because both kinds of thinking, intuitive and analytic, are important for our functioning and that it's not known if the effect lasts.

Analytic Thinking Can Decrease Religious Belief, Study Shows

It does seem to suggest that critical thinking, which is often analytic, would support a less religious attitude. But we kind of knew that already. Didn't we? Most skeptics are atheists. And even those who are theists tend to be much more secular in their thinking than very religious people are.

Uncertainty may make you uncomfortable. Certainty makes you ridiculous.

Why not question something for a change?

To make that apply to Theists too you'll have to say it so,
"When you start thinking about it, other religions are crap."

There are only two types of religious people, the deceivers and the deceived. SS
