For what? You do not want to fucking know. This post by the way, is not safe for work, or for your soul.

The affidavit describing Brown's extensive Internet chats about eating children is grotesque, even by the jaded standards of child abuse investigators. Brown and Arnett were discovered during an international child pornography crackdown that has led to 40 arrests in six countries. The pair's exchanges stood out to investigators.

"In my time here at this agency," Feinstein said, "I've never seen anything this gruesome."

Using online monikers that investigators traced to their computers, Brown and Arnett discussed killing — what they called "snuffing" — children as young as 2. Arnett described what different human body parts tasted like, roasted or cooked in a skillet, according to the complaint.

In one chat cited in the complaint, Arnett described drowning a little girl, and in another, he and Brown excitedly talked about a photo, shared by Arnett, of a 3-year-old girl being strangled.

Brown had ties to a wide array of children's programs in the Tampa Bay area. In addition to the Gulf Coast Church, officials for the Tampa Bay Rays, the Pinellas County School District, the Christian Television Network, the city of Largo and Gulf Coast Jewish Family & Community Services, among others, all said he had been hired or volunteered as a performer, instructor or mentor.

The people at freethought blogs have heard of this also:
Pharyngula

Rock Beyond Belief <--as of this post, the show, called Joy Junction that the guy worked on is still on the air.

The really frightening thing? From the Tampa article:

He has no criminal record in Florida, which helps explain his frictionless association with these groups, many of which routinely perform background checks.

What brought that on? this. Original posting here.

Another example of this guy's lunacy here.

PZ:
“Child cannibalism enthusiast”? They actually exist? Every atheist baby-eating joke in the world has just been ruined by a disturbing Christian reality.

Only thing is, this isn't a "Christian reality" other than by association. That guy knew where to find kids to prey on and found the perfect cover. If he hadn't found religion as a good cover, he would have found a pre-school or something else. This has nothing to do with religion and everything to do with Brown being one sick fuck.

True. Only if further evidence comes out, pointing to Catholic Church-style indifference or cover-up, would that be an issue. That's not evident yet, and may never be. PZ went a step too far, analogous to tarring atheism with Stalin's crimes.

I have a feeling that they will drop this case fairly soon.

It is a common tactic amongst Evangelicals to suggest that they or someone they know did unspeakable acts (Mike Warnke claimed to be a Satanist preist who made blood sacrifices). They would also use such tales to claim Satanic Ritual Abuse. I'll have to warn the Neo-pagans that I know in that area that a new push for suppression of our religion is forthcoming.

If he really was murdering and eating young children, there would have been more of a stink in the papers about disappearing children.

This is out of the blue. The stench of Liars for Jesus is in the air.

Did you read the article? It wasn't the Christians who turned him in. It was federal agents who decided the time was right to bust him. The people he worked for had no idea of Brown's online activities.

"We're incredibly shocked and saddened by the news," Gulf Coast Church pastor Randy Morris said in an interview Tuesday from Orlando, where he was attending a conference. "It's a very sobering thought that he's been around our congregation for years. The charges against him are mind-boggling."

I'm expecting Brown to start a "ministry" claiming he was led to these unspeakable acts by Satanists/Neo-Pagans/Atheists/Godless Satan worshippers.

They were laying the groundwork when the FBI stumbled on it. I expect they will quietly fess up to the ruse in custody so they can publically rail against the Godless Heathens(tm) at a later date.

In the meanwhile, other Evanelical groups will be quick to sieze on this to bash their target du jour.

I am skeptical that the "snuffing" ever happened.

Except that's what the joke is all about: association. Other people claim that because some atheists do horrible things (the "Stalin was an atheist" trick) then all atheists must have the same lack of morals, the properly dismissive joke response is to say, "yeah, I'll get back to rending the fabric of American society after I finish cooking this baby for dinner." When the anti-atheists go for the over-the-top hyperbole, ridicule it by going even more over-the-top.

The fact that this example of a real-life person who fantasized about child cannibalism is a Christian kinda ruins that particular punchline. I guess we'll have to dial it back a notch and stick with barbecuing kittens or some such. I mean, "The Church Burnin' Ebola Boys" ran its course on AntiEvolution.org years ago (and again, the joke got ruined by dissatisfied parishioners burning down their own churches).
