Correct! The irascible Philip J. Klass was a founding Fellow in 1976 of the world's first skeptical organization, Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal (CSICOP, now CSI). Klass was an aviation electronics engineer by profession (he coined the word, "avionics"), and a UFO investigator/debunker by avocation. He wrote seven books, and many articles. He was the Avionics Editor of Aviation Week & Space Technology. Klass died in 2005 at age 85.
The other "Philip Klass" I mentioned in Hint #1 was known to science fiction readers as William Tenn, who died in 2010. |
