Comfort has gotten the backing of the Wing Nut Daily in going after atheists now.

Starting today, exclusively on WND’s Diversions page, international evangelist Ray Comfort is debuting a fresh and fun new column that will unmask these influential atheists and challenge the culture to rethink the gospel of Jesus Christ.

In each weekly column, you can look forward to guessing who the featured "Famous Atheist" is and enjoy an exclusive drawing of the celebrity from caricature artist Esly Stampek. Then Comfort, author of "God Doesn’t Believe in Atheists," will explain how he would challenge the famous atheist’s views and thinking.

Comfort told WND it’s important for Christians to realize that atheism is every bit as “evangelistic” a faith as their own and that they need to be ready to confront its growth in society.

Ray comfort is indeed known for his refined ability to provoke laughter, so I was sure this new WND column would be quite the source for chuckles. Of course, with guys like Comfort, the laughter they evoke is of the of unintentional kind, as when Comfort and his sidekick Kirk Cameron infamously "explained" how God designed the banana to perfectly fit the hand and mouth of humans. Years later, the laughter over that one has not yet subsided.

So the Banana Man doesn't disappoint my expectations in this first "humor" column at Wingnut Central. He chooses for his first target of derision the famous atheist spokesman, Billy Joel. Because -- forget about Hitchens, Harris, Dennett, Dawkins and that lot -- when you think of atheism, Billy Joel's is the first face that pops up in your mind. So if Ray can put the kibosh on Billy, he's already half way to discrediting Atheism, Inc.

Okay, I'm laughing already, Ray. At you again.

I'm kind of wondering at his first choice of target myself.

Yes. Comfort's just going to piss off Billy Joel fans who had no idea, nor cared, that he's a professed atheist. Dumb.

Comfort shoots himself in the foot so often, he must be a centipede.

Ray does have a point. How does Billy know that animals don't pray when they're afraid?

It's a small point. It's close to a singularity, but heck, it's a point... And I don't know if my left sock is currently praying, either...

Are you suggesting his point have gravitas?

If that point is a singularity, it'll soon evaporate according to Hawkins, just like all of Comfort's points (except for the one on his head).

I get a kick every time Christians accuse others of faith or evangelism as if they were bad, bad things.

The Wing Nut Daily and Ray Comfort. Makes sense to me.

They just hired Rick Santorum, too.
