Thanks to our members for your continuing participation on the SFN forums. And here's hoping that you have a great new year! Stay skeptical!!!

That's about it...

Carry on.

Happy New Year!

Baguio City was like a free-fire war zone last night. The spectacular SM Mall fireworks display this year seemed to be toned down considerably from the last New Years celebration, but the citizenry more than made up for this with their own rockets, bombs, screaming, and horns. (Or maybe another rebellion has broken out? In the Philippines, it's not always easy to tell the difference.)

Three of us had decided to go to the SM Mall to see the fireworks close-up, arriving there before 7 PM. But the Mall was being shut down and we were barely able to order some take-out pizza before the shops closed. We were warned by the cabbie on the way to the Mall that all the exhausted taxi drivers would go off duty at 9 PM. Preferring not to walk several kilometers home, we took a taxi right home. Anyway, the seven-year-old girl with us wanted to party with her peers at at our neighbors Sonny's place. The girls ended up doing Gangnam Style dancing late into the night, though I opted out.

With my older person's increasing alcohol sensitivity, one half-liter bottle of San Miguel Red Horse Strong (fortified) Beer, consumed on my terrace while watching the fireworks, was enough to get me feeling very merry, yet with no hangover.

Thanks, and Happy New Year to you. Glad you're all alive and mostly well at the end of another one.

Merry Gregorian Calendar New Year to you too.

Friends returned from Hawaii and hosted a Hawaiian/Luau-style New Year party. For the occasion, I baked Spam enchiladas. They turned out quite good, I must say.
