Damn you, Kil. That's an hour-and-a-half of my life I won't get back (though most of it was really cooooool).

The money illusion in the bottom right corner cracked me up.

My favorite was the rotating hollow face. That's one I hadn't seen before. or at least, I don't remember seeing it.

I love visual illusions. I used to collect them (yeah, I'm weird), hunt pictures on the web and save them on the HD.
Thanks, Kil... loved to watch those.

I would have to say Frazer's Spiral is my favorite or at least so far.

Great site Kil, thanks for the link.

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

Whoa! That one is weird. It says I have too short of an attention span to follow any circle around without putting the mouse arrow on it.

My personal favorite is the Scintillating Grid. I've printed some up at work, titled "Vision Test: Point to the Black Dot."

Years ago, my boss walked into my office one day and I held up the printed sheet to show him. Almost immediately, he said "F.U." (not in so few letters), and left my office. I still don't know why he wanted to talk to me at that particular instant.

Just a couple months ago, a coworker of mine, upon seeing the grid for the first time, said "that is the most horrible thing I've ever seen." He claimed that he wasn't exaggerating at all.

I don't understand either of these reactions. It's just an optical illusion.

To some people, that particular illusion is the visual equivalent of fingernails on a blackboard. Myself, I find the scintillation only mildly unsettling. Also, it seems to make matters worse that when I print it out, I make sure there are at least 100 intersections, total, not just the 64 seen on that web site.

I love the illusions. It's funny how the brain is wired.

Here's a few more illusions and puzzles that I think are worth a peek.

The Scintillating Grid was a little unsettling. I noticed my anxiety level increasing in just a few seconds.

Is anybody aware of a gender-related inability to see some illusions?

My family went to Little Rock for the opening of the Clinton Museum. While there (partly to escape the pouring rain!) we toured a children's museum that had several exhibits where you were supposed to stare at a picture for several seconds, and then another image would emerge. My husband and son had no problem seeing the hidden images, but no matter how long we looked my daughters and I could not see them. What gives?

I like Find the Face (in the Beans). Could just be my coffee addiction, though.

Thanks, now I'm going to have to go out and buy a box of pasta just to try #25...

When I tried it all mine all broke into at least three pieces, but my sister tried it and insists that it didn't work for her.

Yeah that one is pretty awesome. Even knowing how the illusion works doesn't diminish its effectiveness.

This one baffles me though. Does anyone have an explanation?
