To go along with our haiku thread, we decided last night in chat that we needed a limerick thread. No need to limit this one to skeptical topics, though it'd be nice if you could.

An SFN member named Ricky
made puns that left some people sicky.
Butts, tires, cars, trains,
rocks, Greek: all fair game,
and 'penis' just makes him get pricky.

I suppose this means I need to get Dave back. Hopefully I'll have something in a few days.

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

Looking at the diversity of life as a tree
It is quite easy to see
Just give it a rest
Evolution is the best
And there is no need for ID

- Gosh - that really sucked...

METHINKS IT IS LIKE A WEASEL
It's a small, off-duty czechoslovakian traffic warden!

I would suck equally, if trying a limerick in either Swedish or Kiwi. I'm bad enough at it in what we Yanks call English.

Once upon a midnight dreary
Reading limericks not too cleary
Wanting so to do my best
With fuzzy mind at my behest
Wrote these words to make me cheery

Ah f... it didn't work.

As a nooby, I barely know Ricky,
But already know Dave's a dick. He
is the first to throw stones
and cause much greater moans,
with his punning. For Dave is a prick, he.

This lim'rick is really quite bad
Perhaps just a little bit sad
Since even this verse
Is not really worse
Than those I have heard from my dad!

(Dad, that's not really true, you know. Your Rymz be kickin, yo. Really.)

"Theocracy," said a guy named 'Mooner,
"will be with us not later but sooner."
We all tried to laugh,
at this awful gaff,
then I find that outlawed is my nooner.

By the way, here is help with cheating, and obviously, I've complete hosed the proper meter.

Is there any online utility, Dave, that will let you paste in a paragraph, then has a "Make a limerick out of this crap" button?

Edit: Ack, there kinda is, "The Limerick Generator":

My friend Kil,
Don't have skill,
At running a forum,
But sure do adore 'em.

There once was a biker named Fil.
That good old boy couldn't stand still.
He consorted with snakes,
and "one-percent" rakes,
but Fil always employed his goodwill.

The skeptics a web site did make
And mark in the sand with a stake
Some beliefs that they hone
Though the lot has been shown
That their evidence is all a fake

No witty quotes. I think for myself.

The skeptics made a web site they say
To test what is true night and day
Yet their jitters and fears
Keep what's real from their ears
And some truths are kept firmly at bay

No witty quotes. I think for myself.

Some people here sing an old song
Crying foul and sounding a gong
Watch them split every hair
Cuz they simply can't bear
To admit it when they're clearly wrong

No witty quotes. I think for myself.

I don't get why some skeptics can't see
What went wrong at the W-T-C
Debris shoots out of dust
One would think it's a must
To consider it was a CD

God, these things almost write themselves.

No witty quotes. I think for myself.
