Here is a podcast of a lecture by Richard Dawkins (mp3 format) from the CBC Radio progarm Ideas. He talks about how our brains have evolved to pervieve things on a middle scale and how this makes it hard for us to conceive the very large and the very small. He provides a good rebuttal to the "Scientists have been unable to create life in the lab" argument. This will be available until February 12th.

I'm a fan of Dawkins, reading his new book right now. Although its good it tends to be a little hard to read and seems to spend a lot of time quoting people, not for facts or expertise, but merely because they are famous for one reason or another.

Are there any more things like this to listen to?

What are you looking at? Haven't you ever seen a pink shirt before?

I would guess you have seen beyond belief 06, watched some of the Dawkins and Harris lectures, if you are interested in the brain you should check out Ramachandran, this is a few of his lectures I enjoyed. And of course there are the podcast appearances on IG, Skepticality, The Skeptics Guide to the Universe, The Atheist Experience, and The Non Prophets to name a few.

Facts! Pssh, you can prove anything even remotely true with facts.

Lisa: Yes, but wouldn't you rather know the truth than to delude yourself for happiness?
Marge: Well... um.... [goes outside to jump on tampoline with Homer.]
