Here's my second, and probably last, effort in doing a parody of a Chick Tract in this manner.

You'll note that Chick used one of his other, more talented, cartoonists for the artwork. Not the funky style of Jack Chick's own artwork. In the original, "Apes, Lies and Ms. Henn", the tract is dedicated to attacking evolution. It does so with the most blatant lies, fear-mongering, and just plain hatred imaginable. "EvolutionistS," it seems, will go to Hell, innocent kids or not. My parody comes out as a defense of critical reasoning and as an attack on Creationism, but mine's very mild as compared to the original Chick Tract.

In no way does my parody reflect the thinking of Jack Chick, or of Chick Publications! Please do not confuse my hatchet-job with a real Chick Tract hatchet job! Nor does SFN nor the late Carl Sagan have anything to do with this little parody of mine. It's all my fault!

Be advised, I again inserted a few dirty words for comedic and dramatic effect.

This time, I left out a version of the final propaganda panel.

Any particular reason the smartest people in this comic lack most in gammar and basic english skills?

Facts! Pssh, you can prove anything even remotely true with facts.

No.

No reason, particular or otherwise. Except I liked doing the switch, enjoyed putting a skeptic's argument into (an attempt at) a ghetto patois. I have met a few people who had terrible use of common English, but were quite smart. Then there are the millions of African Americans who easily switch between dialects according to their company. And other millions of Caucasian youngsters who are "wankstas," trying to emulate the thuggish types who dominate hip-hop music.

There's also the fact that this "angle" on the tract helped me to remain consistently inconsistent with reality, the way I like it at Moonscape.

Wow I just realized I typed "Gammar". I have to admit the attempt at Ghetto slang made the piece quite entertaining. I am still wondering how someone can get "calm and crunk".

You typed "gammar"? Hah-ha! Seriously, I didn't even notice. Which explains the many errors I make in proof reading. Thanks for that feedback. Without comments, it feels like I'm working in a silent vacuum, sometimes.

"Calm and crunk"? Ah, a special and delicate state of balance, where one is both alert and focused, and yet free of emotional baggage. When you stop trying, you will achieve it, Grasshoppah.

Next, we can discuss your inappropriate capitalization of "gammar," as well as your lack of capitalization of "English."

i'm so not into capitalization. i only show deference to the words i feel deserve it. i like italicizing, but only when i am writing by hand. bolding is fun too. i just whip out my magic markers and the words come to life. how does everyone feel about color?

Edited to add: I just noticed that in the frame after Susy comes back to class, the evolution slide on the tripod is still up.

Another nice one Halfmooner.

I've always felt Chick's publications to be just hilariously stupid, even self parodying, but you've gone one better.

Images like this:

are what annoy me most about this style of fear mongering, popular with many (not all) organised religions.

The idea of some unfortunate soul reading this, and not having the requisite logical skills or exposure to different ideas to see it for the crapola that it is, especially the young, as depicted, almost makes me wish there was a hell for the purveyors of such garbage to spend some time in.

John's just this guy, you know.

The fundies are on extremely hypocritical ground when they complain of people like Dawkins taking them on with frontal attacks on religion.

Notice that the very nastiest weapon they have, the meanest thing they know to say, is that their opponents are Satan-spawned, and are going to Hell. Yet they use that always, like it's their first. last, and only weapon. When you tell your opponent up front that he's the Devil, there's no room for debate.

Thanks, Siberia. But think of all the ass-beatings that poor kid must get back in his 'hood because of that vocabulary!
